Team Work Is Dream Work
by James Merritt
What I want to talk to you about today is something that God desperately desires for his people. It is one thing that Satan fears and works day and night to undo. It is something for which Jesus himself prayed for just before He went to the cross. It is the one thing the bible says that will convince people that the church has something the world does not. It is the one thing that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is meant to accomplish. What is it that I am talking about?--UNITY. Now when I speak about unity, let me make it plain that I'm not talking about union. Union is when you are bonded with someone with whom you may not...
Building a Team of Teams Culture
by Frank Damazio
The culture of team leadership is layered with the values, beliefs, and behaviors of the leaders who are building and implementing a leadership culture. The leadership style and philosophy of the key leader and leaders will shape the culture of how leadership is applied. The team of teams culture is built from the core principles and philosophy of leadership embraced by all the leaders. If team is not in the heart of the leaders, it will be very difficult-if not impossible-to build team culture into the heart of the church. The challenge is getting all the team players into the same boat at the same time, rowing together in the same...
Playing as a Team (3 of 4)
by Jeff Strite
What you've seen were just A FEW of the final minutes of the 1963 championship game between the Celtics (thus the St. Patrick's day reference) and Lakers. The Celtics barely won 112 to 109 (which was a fairly high score considering the fact that there was no 3 point shots at the time). That championship was one of 17 championships that the Celtics have won over the years, making them the winningest team in ALL of the NBA. In the 13 yrs. from 1957 til 1969, they won a record 11 of those championships, a 8 of those victories were consecutive - 8 in a row. ALL this was accomplished under the coaching of...
Team Work or Turf Wars? (7 of 36)
by Keith Krell
What does it take to be successful in the world of team sports? Contrary to popular opinion, it is not tattoos, jail time, and steroids. It is teamwork! The greatest athletes in the world are only considered successful in the ultimate sense when they win the big one-the championship. However, the only way to accomplish this in team sports is to be a team player and to play on a team that is committed to teamwork. Right now March Madness is going on. By this afternoon we will be down to the four best teams in college basketball. Next weekend these teams will match up against each other. I can assure you the team that plays together...
Unity in the Church
by Adrian Rogers
Would you take God's precious word tonight and turn with me please to Psalm one hundred and thirty three, It's a short Psalm, only three verses but what a magnificent message it has for us tonight. It speaks of unity in the body of Christ, let's look at that Psalm and let me read it for you. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard on Aaron's beard that went down to the skirts of his garments, the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion, for there the Lord commanded the blessing...
Unity and Harmony
by Kenton Beshore
We're continuing a series titled The Apprentice. And it is because we are going through the book, 1 Timothy, where Paul is discipling or mentoring or teaching Timothy who he worked together. Timothy and Paul worked together for about 10 years. And now Timothy is a young pastor in his late 20s, early 30s in a church at Ephesus. He is a leader there. And Ephesus is a commercial center, very important city in the Mediterranean. It's in modern day Turkey. It was a very important city, commercial center and right on the Mediterranean, beautiful city. But he has become discouraged the problems, the pressure, the people, just overwhelmed and he wants to quit. And so Paul is writing to Timothy to encourage...
Getting Back in the Game (5 of 7)
by Jeff Schreve
The Rose Bowl has been called, among college football bowl games, the granddaddy of all the bowl games. The Rose Bowl began in the early 1900s, and it came with the Tournament of Roses Parade. The Rose Bowl is filled with a lot of pomp and circumstance. And it's been the site of so many great games. Many Rose Bowl champions have gone on to become the national champion. They won the Rose Bowl game, and then they were crowned the national champion because they won that game. Very special game. History records so many great moments in the Rose Bowl, but on January 1, 1929, University of California was...
How to Be a Team Player
by Curt Dodd
Being part of a team is very important. In fact, when we are a member of a team that works together, we can accomplish more than we can accomplish all alone. It works like that in business, and in our homes, not to mention our churches as well. In a day and time where so many partners in marriages both carrying a bread winning model, it is important that a family learn to work together as a team. It is important that a business learn to work together as a team, and it is just as important for the church to learn to work together as a team. In fact, if you look at it more closely, all of our lives are made up of a...
Living in Unity (5 of 16)
by Ernest Easley
What an exciting time to be a part of RSBC! Now we're continuing our study of the book of JOY. And of course, I'm talking about the book of Philippians. Writing from a prison cell in Rome, chained to Romans guards twenty-four hours a day, Paul writes this letter to the church at Philippi and the theme is JOY. What Paul had discovered about joy is what we need to discover about joy: JOY IS AN INSIDE JOB. Joy is not linked to the circumstances of your life! Joy is linked to the Christ in your life. It is Christ in you that produces JOY! Now look with me to chapter 2 beginning in verse 1 as we think about. Living in Unity Philippians...
The Commitment of the Peacemaker
by Jimmy Evans
The ''authentic'' Christian is a person who is committed to and characterized by a spirit of unity. His influence is one of bringing things together. He is ''together'' because of God's work in his life and he brings things together because of God's working through his life. Three Facts About Unity 1. Unity is God's explicit desire - John 17:11;21 - oneness as a church, oneness with him 2. Unity is God's design for us - (church - I Corinthians 12),(marriage - Genesis 2) 3. Unity is God's delight - (pleases Him) - Psalm 133 The Fourfold Commitment of Christian Unity 1. Commitment to work diligently for it - Vs. 3 ''being...
The Ties That Bind - Teamwork (1 of 4)
by Steve Jones
In Florida, the Estero High football staff gathered in head coach Rich Dombroski's office late Friday (10.10.8), almost in stunned silence. Earlier that night, Estero lost to Naples High by 13. Not by 13 points' by 13 touchdowns. That's right: Naples 91, Estero 0. After the one-sided affair, the Estero defensive line coach said "Hey, I didn't even know 91 was a multiple of seven." With that, the coaches all got a much-needed laugh. The Naples coach Bill Kramer-the man on the winning end- ran only 31 plays and he kept most of his best players on the sideline-for the entire game in some cases. The schools aren't far off in size...
