Come Into the Ark-Part 1 (16 of 64)
by Brad Whitt
All right, take your Bibles now this evening. Be finding your place at Genesis, Chapter 6, if you will. Genesis Chapter 6 tonight. For our guests, we've been in a series of studies for the last several months through this beginning book in the Bible that we know as the book of Genesis. We've entitled this simple series of studies, Genesis: The Book of Beginnings. If you'll take your Bibles, go back to Genesis Chapter 1. Hold your place here in Genesis Chapter Six. If you'll begin there in Genesis Chapter 1, we've seen how God created everything out of nothing, how he made the moon, the sun, the stars, the universe and all those sorts of things...
I Noah Man (6 of 7)
by Jeff Strite
Someone put together a list entitled: ''All I Really Need To Know I Learned From Noah's Ark''Noah didn't wait for his ship to come in, he built one. Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the ark. Stay fit. When you're 500 years old, someone might ask you to do something REALLY big.Speed isn't always an advantage. The cheetahs were on board the ark, but so were the snails. Remember that the ark was built by amateurs and the Titanic was built by professionals. No matter how bleak it looks, if God is with you, there's always a rainbow on the other side/And above all else... don't miss the boat. There are many things to be learned...
Looking at Our Storms through the Window of the Ark (1 of 6)
by Ken Trivette
1. I was recently reading about some of the worst storms in history. Let me mention a few of them. There was the 1926 storm that hit Florida and Alabama. The storm caused $1.2 billion in damage, leaving the city of Miami devastated and 372 dead. There was the Labor Day storm of 1937 that struck the Florida Keys leaving 400 dead. It was the most powerful storm ever to strike the U.S. and one of only two Category 5 storms to do so. There was the 1947 storm that hit south Florida and Georgia that left 50 dead. Along with another hurricane and a tropical storm, all in a five- week period, the 1947 storm caused the worst flooding on record...
The Kind Of Man God Uses
by Rick Ferguson
As we continue our study in the book of Genesis (the book of beginnings) we come today to one of the great events of human history: The story of Noah and the ark, and the great global flood of God's judgment upon the earth. NOTE:Some of you businessmen will want to study Noah carefully. He has been acclaimed as the best financier in the Bible, because be was able to float his stock while the whole world was in liquidation. Do any of you fishermen know what instructions Noah gave his sons about fishin-g off the ark? Go easy on the bait boys, I only have two worms! Now some would contest the historicity of this great event. The story of the...
Captain Noah and the Good Ship Grace
by Adrian Rogers
Now, I want you to find Genesis chapter six, Genesis chapter six, and we're going to begin reading in verse one. Genesis chapter six, verse one. The title of our message is Captain Noah and the good ship grace. Genesis six, one begins this way. ''And it came to pass when men began to multiply on the face of the earth and daughters were born unto them that the sons of Gods saw the daughters of men that they were fair, and they took them wives of all that they chose. And the Lord said, my spirit shall not always strive with man for that he also is flesh, yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. And there were giants in the...
A World Gone Wicked (1 of 7)
by Jeff Schreve
I hold in my hands a relic from the not-to-distant past. Who knows what this is? (laughter). Huh? You guys know what this is? Have you ever seen one of these? (laughter). Just in museums, right? This is a, a vinyl record. Now this is all we had growing up. We had vinyl records. This is from Debbie's collection, ''The Best of Sonny and Cher'' (laughter). It's pretty good. It's got, ''The Beat Goes On'' and ''I Got You, Babe.'' But we had records, and that's just what you had. And you would go to the record store and you'd see what kind of records they had. And, you know, you had your turntable. And, boy, when I got out of college, I spent...
Come Into the Ark (5 of 34)
by Jerry Vines
I want to read some very unusual verses for you beginning in Genesis 6. These are strange verses. These are verses which call out for some understanding and interpretation. There are two main sections to the book of Genesis. The first eleven chapters have to do with the history of the human race. The remainder of the book has to do with the history of the Hebrew race. In the first 11 chapters there are four great historical events which are given to us. There is first of all the creation, chapters 1 and 2. Secondly, there is the fall, chapters 3 through 5. Thirdly, there is the flood, chapters 6 through 9. Fourth, there is the tower of Babel...
Who's Who? You're Gonna Build a What?
by Ron Clarkson
Intro Series: This past summer I asked about 15 various individuals if they would assist me in an important project. I asked them to talk to their friends, their neighbors, relatives and come up with a list of sermon series and subjects that people would really like to hear teaching on. When this group came together, we pooled the responses and tried to determine the series for this next year. One of the top requests/concerns that was revealed was the desire people had to discover the Bible and a very personal level. They wanted to explode the myths and mystique that had prevented them from discovering God's word in a personal way...
Captain Noah and His Unsinkable Ship
by Ken Trivette
1. The most famous ship that ever sailed was the H.M.S. Titanic. In her day, she was a state of the art Ocean liner, 882.5 ft long; her beam 92.5 ft, and 60.5 ft from water line to boat deck. She consisted of 9 decks. She was designed to remain afloat with any 2 compartments flooded, possibly three. She could carry 329 passenger's first class, 285 passengers 2nd class, and 710 passengers 3rd class. On her maiden voyage across the Atlantic, she carried 2227 on board. When she sank on April 15, 1912, of her 2227 passengers and crew, only 705 survived. It was widely regarded that the ''Olympic Class'' liners were largely unsinkable and...
My Thanksgiving List
by Rex Yancey
A man and his wife on a strict diet, sat down at the table for a meatless meal, all steamed and all green. He looked at what was before him and said, ''You say the blessing. If I thank the Lord for this He'll know I'm lying!'' We are in Thanksgiving week. A week sanctioned and scheduled by the government. But there is a divinely scheduled Thanksgiving Day. Does anyone know when it is? It's today-and tomorrow, and the next day. Daniel 6:20 says, ''Daniel was on his knees three times a day, praying and giving thanks before his God.'' Everyday was Thanksgiving for Daniel, and should be for us as well. Colossians 3:15 says, ''And be thankful…''...
My Name Is Noah
by Jeff Strite
My name is Noah, the son of Lamech, who was the son of Methusaleh, and he in turn was the son of Enoch…Now there was a man for you. Enoch. Walked with God he did. They say that one day he and God were out walking and God said: "Enoch, we appear to be closer to my home than yours, so why don't you come on home with me?" Enoch, now there was a man to pattern your life after. Enoch was the son of Jared and Jared was born of… born of… Now don't tell me. Jared was the son of… Mahalalel. Always had trouble with that name: Mahalalel. Never could figure out why anybody'd ever name their boy Mahalalel....
A Man Called Noah (2 of 7)
by Jeff Schreve
If you have your Bible, please turn to Genesis chapter 6. We want to study today in our series on the life and times of Noah, a message I've entitled, 'A Man Called Noah.'' Now I heard about a church and they were looking for a pastor. And they were given the name of a guy, and they thought he was pretty young, and so they were a little hesitant. They brought him to interview him, the Pastor Search Committee. And they you know just checking him out began asking some questions. They said, ''Well, you, you know you're young, so how well do you know the Bible?'' The guy said, ''Well, I know it really pretty well.'' They said, ''Well, what do...

Noah And The Great Flood
by Tony Nester
We're starting a new message series today with stories from the Book of Genesis. We start with Noah and the Great Flood from Genesis chapters 6 - 8. I'm reading excerpts from those chapters and encourage you to take time to read them in their entirety. (Read Genesis 6:11-22, Genesis 7:24, Genesis 8:14-19 NRSV) Noah's Ark has fascinated people for thousands of years. Many have gone searching to find remnants of the Ark believing that it's lodged atop some Middle Eastern mountain. The most common location is alleged to be Mt. Ararat in eastern Turkey. Some believe that pieces of the Ark are preserved in the ice...
Noah Prepared for the End (2 of 7)
by Tony Thomas
When I left home for college, I had no clue what I was doing! I knew I was training for ministry, that it would take four years to complete my degree, but I assumed that someone would guide me. Because I had spent the summer in Africa, I arrived late. All the other students met with their advisors. All the other students went through freshmen orientation. But, I arrived on a Saturday and classes started on Monday morning. When Monday rolled around I moseyed into the office and signed up for classes that sounded interesting. In other words, I had no plan of study! I was not pursuing a degree. I was taking every Bible class offered, and for...
The Destruction and Salvation of Humanity (5 of 6)
by Zach Terry
Opening Illustration: These are the kind of stories that I find very difficult to preach. It's like a Christmas Sermon. Why? You've heard it all. There's not much I can add. For a teacher that is my desire. I want to TEACH you something, Noah's flood is much the same way. However I must say that I find it very disturbing that if you really understand the story that this is the story you tell your kids when you tuck them in at night? What kind of sicko are you? - That's like watching 2012 just before bedtime. This is the most horrible story in all the Bible - yet because the animals come 2 by 2 we miss the fact that this is Judgment day. CONTEXT: Well we pick...
Noah's Ark And The Titanic
by Adrian Rogers
Take God's word tonight please and open to Hebrews chapter eleven and we're going to look primarily at verse seven Hebrews chapter eleven and verse seven. The title of our message tonight is THE TITANIC AND NOAH'S ARK. We read here in Hebrews chapter eleven and verse seven, "by faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith." I think all of us have been amazed and interested if we're interested at all in that type of thing in the discovery of the grave of the...
Noah's Ark Had No Rudder
by Daniel Rodgers
ILLUS: Quite a few years ago, I heard about a man who set out to build his own sailboat in his backyard. He worked diligently on the boat. He worked after hours when he was off work from his day job and most weekends. After several months, the boat began to take shape. People in the community begin to take interest in the sailboat and in their neighbor who had proven to be quite the craftsman. All went well, until one day, someone asked him how he was going to get the boat to the ocean. The poor man had never given a thought about how he planned to get his prize sailboat to the ocean. His boat was too big to be moved...
Noah's Ark and the Gospel (16 of 20)
by Richard Laue
"For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive by the Spirit."There is no more difficult passage in the New Testament to preach than this one. Many preachers ignore it or say, "It can't be fully understood," but we must look at this passage and attempt to find the theme. Verse 18 is a dead give away. That verse is a definite statement of the Gospel. 1. "For Christ also suffered once for sins."2. "The just for the unjust" 3. "That He might bring us to God." 4. "Being put to death in the flesh."5. "But made alive by the Spirit." So this is the Gospel...
Noah's Shipwreck-Part 2 (21 of 64)
by Brad Whitt
Tonight we're coming next in the book to Genesis, chapter 9. And, if you were here last time, you'll remember we started talking about Noah's shipwreck. I showed you a story last time about my Dad sharing a sermon years ago about getting home before dark. I remember hearing him share that sermon many, many times growing up there at First Baptist Church Milan, and when we would preach out in local churches in the area. Basically it was the story of when he was growing up; he would go out to play in the afternoon. And his Mother would holler at him, ''Whatever you do, make sure that you make it home before dark.'' The sad...
