NEBUCHADNEZZAR'S DREAM SERMON OUTLINES

by Robert Walker

This chapter is in many ways the most important prophetic chapter in the whole Bible as it contains what has been called the ABC of prophecy. This chapter should be read in conjunction with Daniel 7 and Revelation Chapters 13 and 17. The whole second chapter of Daniel centers around King Nebuchadnezzar's dream. The King was the ruler of the great part of the known civilized world. He was a mighty monarch and lived in great splendour in Babylon; but at the time that he is introduced to us in this second chapter he is certainly not enjoying peace of mind, for he had been terribly disturbed by a dream. Let us notice the following...

IINTRODUCTION: Nebuchadnezzar was king of Babylon, and ruler over the defeated Jews. In his final assault on Jerusalem in 586 BC, he took captive most of the Jews, with the exception of the elderly and a few that were of no threat to him. Nebuchadnezzar was a man lifted up in pride. He was so proud that he decided to have a statute made in his likeness. So magnificent was this statue that it stood some 60 feet tall and was made of gold. He sent out a decree that at the sound of music, all the inhabitants of Babylon were required to bow before his image and worship him. God said, "I've had enough! So He makes the decision...

No prefiguration of the future has attracted so much attention as the vision parable of Nebuchadnezzar's Colossus. Whole libraries could be filled with the literature which has arisen as an interpretation of the vision. The composite image which the king saw in his dream is just as fascinating to the student of the Scriptures and of human affairs today as it was to Edward Irving, or Sir Isaac Newton, or the fathers of the first centuries of the Christian church. There is great inspiration and profit in the study of this prophetic parable, provided we are content with the principles which are declared, and do not forget these timeless principles in a vain...

Poor man! He resembled a beast without a cage, an outcast deprived of his sanity. The tragedy was the result of personal stupidity; his desire for fame ran away with his brain. He should have known better! His Unparalleled Privileges . . . Convincing Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, was among the world's greatest architects, engineers, and builders. Without the machines so commonplace today, he erected a city, which if it still existed would be the world's greatest tourist attraction. He was exceedingly wise, but not wise enough to understand that without God he was nothing. The second chapter in the book of Daniel...

We are in the book of Daniel and before I get started, for the melancholies that are here today, we had some concern because I didn't get all the blanks filled in last Sunday, but I just ran out of time. We put the answers in it today so if I don't get there, you can. Also on the study guide they left off a point so I don't want you to stay awake over that. Point number three is a daring prayer, verses 15 and 18. You will see it on the screen, but it's not on your study guide. Get your study guide, take notes, and let's see what we can learn from this incredible second chapter in the book of Daniel. God sets the course of human history. In the Christian...

Daniel answered the king and said, ''No wise men, enchanters, magicians, or astrologers can show to the king the mystery that the king has asked, but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries, and he has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days'' (vv. 27-28). TO WHOM DO WE GIVE THANKS? To whom do you give thanks on Thanksgiving Day? When we give thanks to God for our blessings, we are acknowledging that God is sovereign (i.e., in control). Thanksgiving Day was originally based on the belief that God is sovereign. On January 31, 1957, the Canadian Parliament proclaimed: ''A Day of General...

Some scholars say "Daniel" was written in the 6th Century B.C., others the 2nd Century B.C. Either way, the people of God were living in perilous times. They needed to know how to conduct themselves, and the stories of Daniel showed how. We can learn from them. I. The Days that Demand Character. A. In Daniel's case: 1. The moral and spiritual collapse of Judah. Jeremiah 25:1 7 2. The reaction of the Lord. v. 2, Jeremiah 25:8 12; 2 Chronicles 36:15 23 3. The destruction of Jerusalem, temple and religious structures. v. 2 4. The call to live faithfully in an alien culture. Jeremiah 24:1 7; 29:4 14 B. In our case: The challenge to live...

Good morning. We're going to be in Daniel chapter two today, if you want to find that place in your Bible. But I want to take a few minutes first and just give an update on the flood damage in our community, and some of the ways we've been able to provide help. You know, we say this a lot around here: Jesus came into this world to heal the brokenness in the world. And the deepest kind of brokenness is spiritual brokenness. People have been disconnected from their creator because of sin. And Jesus came to reconnect people with God. So because of the cross of Christ, our spiritual brokenness can be healed. And that's really the heart...

DATE AND BACKGROUND: Events contained in Daniel's prophecy span the time period of 650BC to the third year of the reign of Cyrus 535BC. The book is chiefly about the man Daniel and his message. Daniel, the man, stands out uniquely among the great characters of the Bible. There are other good men in the scriptures, but none quite like Daniel. Possibly some of Daniel's spiritual fortitude could be attributed to the fact that Daniel was born and reared during the great spiritual awakening under the good and godly King Josiah. THEME: A dual theme in Daniel features: 1. The providence of God among His faithful people even in exile....

You remember that last week, we looked at the interpretation of the dream of King Nebuchadnezzar. We notice that in the dream, Nebuchadnezzar saw a statue and it was made of different materials. These materials represented four world empires plus the last empire that is to come, the empire of the anti-Christ. Hundreds and hundreds of years before these events took place, Daniel saw them in a vision. It's represented in this great statue. You see the head of gold representing Babylon, that was the kingdom of Nebuchadnezzar. Then, of course, a breastplate of silver, representing the successor to Babylon, the Medo-Persian...

Roland Allen tells about a veteran missionary who came up to him one day after he had delivered his sermon. The missionary introduced himself & said, "I was a medical missionary for many years in India. And I served in a region where there was progressive blindness. People were born with healthy vision, but there was something in that area that caused people to lose their sight as they matured." But this missionary had developed a process which would arrest progressive blindness. So people came to him & he performed his operation, & they would leave realizing that they would have become blind, but now they were going to be able to see for...

Ever have a day thought be good day but very quickly turns out be very bad day? A day where wake up, get dressed in favorite outfit. Get out door with plenty of time to get coffee. No one is in drive thru so zoom through. Get in to work on time, thinking everything is great today! But then you in morning meeting, realize you missing key part of project for a client (and client coming in to talk to you in 5 minutes). Or you give a presentation and people asking questions not ready for and weren't expecting at all. For those of who students, be like going into class to take a test and realize there big section on test hadn't studied and so weren't ready...

We are in Daniel Chapter 3 and having a wonderful time in this wonderful book. Do you understand that everybody planning on going to heaven is not going to heaven? Expectations won't get you there. Read any survey and you will discover that the vast majority, we're talking about in the 90 percentile of Americans really believe they are going to end up in heaven. It's kind of interesting that Nicole's funeral, I didn't go, but the things that I heard different people saying that now she and her son are together in heaven. Go to any funeral and they are going to preach people into heaven it seems. Expectation has nothing to do with reality....

In the days ahead there will be an article about Dr. LaHaye and Dr. Jenkins and about the phenomenon of the Left Behind series which has sold over 40 million copies. No other Christian book has sold that many copies. And I think that in itself is a sign of the last days, that there is that much interest in the end times. That at 40 million copies of a book on the theme of the end times has sold that many copies. And that is a sign that people are aware of the times in which we live and they want to know more about it. And they asked me why do you think this book as sold so many copies and I said it is because people have always wanted...

The year 2000 is fast approaching and with it all kinds of speculation and interest about the future. NBC in a prime time hour this past year presented a program about the future and about prophecy. NBC pulled together several prophecies and material about some of the prognosticators of the future. One of the objects they spent a great amount of time on was the Giza pyramid of Egypt. There are two corridors in that great pyramid that contain many markings indicating events and their time lines The program pointed out that these markings had been accurate in the matter of time for such events as the...

I want to read verses 28 and 29 and then drop down to verse 31. We are then looking at the remaining verses of this chapter. This is Daniel talking to King Nebuchadnezzar. The king had a recurring dream, and he could not remember the details of the dream. He had called in all of his official advisors, the so-called know-it-alls and the authorities of that day. They couldn't recall the dream or give the substance of the dream. But God had revealed this dream to Daniel. Daniel is getting ready to rehearse the dream to the memory of Nebuchadnezzar. Here's what Daniel says to the king. "But there is a God in heaven that reveals secrets and...

At the current time, this is a great study for us because of our troops being stationed in Iraq and all that they are going through in Iraq trying to rebuild the country. With the emphasis this past week, the nations of the world gathered together in a conference to try to figure out how much they could give to the cause to the rebuilding effort to help the United States in its effort to rebuild Baghdad and to rebuild the country of Iraq. They do not know it but they are part of bible prophecy coming to pass because the scripture teaches that Iraq will rise again. Scripture teaches that in the last days, Babylon will be rebuilt. We don't know if this is the specific...

In the Book of Daniel, chapter 2 and verse 44, we read, "In the days of THESE KINGS shall the God of Heaven set up a Kingdom which shall never be destroyed." Ten European "Kings" Predicted This is the Word of God and its fulfillment is going on today. God is moving toward the time when the Antichrist is coming. God is moving in the nations of earth. A ten-kingdom alliance is going to arise out of the old Roman Empire. In Daniel 2, Nebuchadnezzar had a vision of a great image. That image, from its head down to its toes, represented world history - Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and Rome. We are living in the last days...
