HEAVEN SERMON OUTLINES

I want to speak today on the subject of ''Heaven.'' I invite you to turn in your Bible to the book of Revelation chapter 21 beginning with verse 1. I love to preach about the subject of heaven. And I love to preach on heaven on Mother's Day because I realize that many of you have mothers who are in heaven, and grandmothers who are in heaven and today makes you think of them. It is a very special time. And I like to preach on heaven because heaven is such a wonderful subject. You know the Bible teaches us there is a heaven, but we are told that in the heart of every man, there is a hope for heaven. The Bible says of...

I want to tell you a couple of experiences out of the 50-plus years of my ministry. The first of these experiences is about a young pastor friend of mine. Many years ago I had a young pastor friend, and still have him as a friend, and his name is Ike Reighard. He was a pastor in Georgia, and we talked together on a regular basis. I remember one morning in my study the telephone rang and it was Ike. I could tell immediately by the sound of his voice that there was a problem. The problem was that his wife was expecting their first child. She went into the hospital to deliver the child. Things seemed to be going normally. Yet, in the...

The Apostle John was thrown on the penal colony of Patmos. There he had a vision-a picture-of what heaven looks like and the activities that occur there. The Book of Revelation helps us to see and understand how God plans to bring times of trouble to an end. It explains why the righteous suffered and why the kingdom of God delayed. It gives us a picture of the future-life after death. Heaven is an exclusive place of beauty, of life, service, worship, and glory to God. Why Should I Believe Heaven is for Real? Why Should I Believe in Heaven? Eternity is in our hearts. We have an instinct for immortality. Quote...

I suppose there is not a person in this room-young or old, who has not suffered in one way or the other. If you are young, most likely your suffering has been slight. If you are older, then you know that suffering seems to increase with age-both physically and emotionally. As we understand more and more about the heartaches and disappointments of life, pain and suffering begin to take their toll. ILLUS: On Thursday, Kitty and I sat with the Linder Family, while Marv was having his angioplasty procedure. Marv's older brother was there. Deana, Marv's daughter, shared with me that her uncle was a II World War...

We are beginning a new series today that I've entitled, ''There's No Place Like Heaven.'' Heaven is such an awesome place. It's the place where God lives. It's the place Jesus went to when he ascended from Earth after his resurrection. He ascended up into Heaven. It's the final destination place for the child of God - for the true blood-bought, born-again child of God. You know, sometimes you get on an airplane and if you're making connections they'll say, ''What is your final destination?'' Well, your final destination is not New York, or Atlanta, or Chicago, or London. As a Christian, your final, final destination is...

Carrie E. Breck, born in Walden, Vermont in 1855; died in Portland, Oregon in 1934, was a devout Christian whose service to God has touched generation after generation. She was not in the best of health, so oftentimes she would take a break from her chores by sitting in a rocking chair with her notebook in which she would write poems. She had no sense of pitch and could not carry a tune. However, she had a great gift for writing poetry. Many of her poems were set to music by others and have become cherished hymns of the Church. 2) One of the most familiar and beloved of her poems is found in the hymn...

I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ''Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. What a beautiful description of heaven. Being with God. It is hard to not enter into a religious conversation with other people. Given a relationship with them for any period of time, inevitably a discussion of religious ethics, of moral values and that of heaven itself will enter the conversations...

The apostle John was exiled on the isle of Patmos. He received a great vision there of heaven. I believe in the heart of every man there is the hope of heaven. The Bible says, ''He has set eternity in our hearts.'' 1. Fairness says there is a heaven. It would not be fair for the terrorists and a saint of God to go to the same place. '' Shall not the Judge of the earth do right?'' 2.Feelings says there is a heaven. The desire for life after death is the oldest and most insistent wish of mankind. We have nostalgia for Eden. 3.Faith says there is a heaven. John 14, ''Let not your heart be troubled.'' ThePsalmist said, ''I will dwell in the house...

We have inherited a tradition of talking about the gospel mostly in regard to eternity. We have often done this to the exclusion of the gospel's impact on life here on earth. While we often preached and talked about ''Pie in the sky, by and by,'' while Jesus spent the bulk of his teaching and ministry focused on life in the here and now. Sure, he raised issues of eternity and framed much of his earthly-focused teaching from a perspective of eternity. He did so, however, with the expectation of bringing God's will and a heavenly quality of living to bear among us amid our earthly existence. How can we pray the Lord's...

We all like to sing and dream about heaven. My questions today are these: Do you really want to go there? Are you sure? Do you believe the Bible? What if the Bible rendition of heaven is vastly different than ours? We must believe God's word, if we desire to spend eternity in heaven. God's word tells us more than we would like to know. So let's hear from God's word what HE has to say about Heaven. (READ TEXT) Revelation 4 seem to give to us the 'sights' and 'sounds' of heaven from someone who has been 'invited' in. Today let's see the sights. After seeing the door and being invited in (Which many believe 'symbolizes'...

It is easy, even as a follow of Jesus Christ, to become discouraged in this life. Disappointment after disappointment and struggle after struggle roll into our lives and with each crushing wave we are reminded that we live in a broken and fallen world. In addition to the discouragement we so often feel we can also become disillusioned and disheartened as we watch evil flourish around us. - Every time I turn on the TV, computer, smart-phone or tablet I see images and read stories that remind me evil still exists all around me and is thriving. - Every day as I struggle with the sinful attitudes and desires of my own heart I am...

C.S. Lewis' second book of the Narnia series, Prince Caspian, tells the story of Narnia some 1300 years after the events of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. The four Pevensie children are brought back to Narnia to rescue the land from the evil Telmarines who have usurped the throne of Narnia from its rightful heir, Prince Caspian. Throughout the story, however, we discover how unready Caspian is to lead, and also how unfit even the four children are to resume their stewardship over Narnia. Though these five people are the rightful possessors of Narnia they require this ordeal, this adversity and opposition...

In 1952 Florence Chadwick stepped into the waters of the Pacific Ocean off of Catalina Island determined to swim to the shore of mainland California. She had already been the first woman to swim the English Channel both ways. But as the embarked on her swim a great, thick fog settled around her. The fog was so thick that she couldn't even see the boats as the accompanied her. Finally she became so physically and emotionally exhausted that she stopped swimming and pulled out. It wasn't until she was on the boat that she discovered that the shore was less that ½ mile away. At a news conference the next...

On this Day of Hope Sunday, you need to know that: Heaven has a healer! He heals broken hearts for we read in Psalm 147.3, "He HEALS THE BROKENHEARTED and binds up their wounds." Heaven has a healer! He heals all our diseases for we read in Psalm 103.2-3, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, WHO HEALS ALL YOUR DISEASES," Heaven has a healer! We read in Exodus 15.26b, "for I am the LORD, your HEALER" which literally says, "I am Jehovah-Rapha," the God who heals, the God who restores, the God who heals. Heaven has a healer! He heals...

I sang that as a child and had no idea what it meant. Well, today we are going to study the Old Testament story that is the basis for that juvenile chorus. Our study of the book of Genesis brings us to Chapter 28 today, in which is recorded the story of Jacob's ladder. Now in my opinion this incident records the Conversion of old, sinful Jacob. He fell asleep a sinner and awoke a son of God. The story we are about to read records the night that Jacob had a run-in with none other than the Lord Jesus Christ; and I think you will see that this was a life-transforming experience for this man whose very name (Jacob) means...

The first Christian missionaries to England went as far north as the kingdom of Northumberland. The king of that land, Ethelbert, was not sure whether he ought to permit these missionaries to preach their new doctrine. To decide the matter he called a convocation of his lords and nobles. They met at night in one of the great baronial halls. As they were deliberating the question, a swallow, attracted by the light, came in out of the darkness at one end of the hall, flashed through the hall under the great beams of the ceiling, and then passed out into the night again at the other end of the hall. Whereupon, one of the nobles...

The Reverend D.M. Panton told of a story of Dr. John Kelman. Dr. Kelman was pastoring in New York City. One day he asked a church member, "What is your solution to the present world unrest?" Dr. Kelman said, "The answer amazed me for the church member said, 'A dictator!'" "But," argued the great preacher, "your dictator would have to be superhuman ... one with perfect understanding of civic and economic problems, with genius to meet opposition and resolve fears." "I know it," was the parishioner's quiet response. "We are looking for such a Man and we have Him in view. His name is ... Jesus." Dr...

Channing Pollack was writing in The North American Review about the question, “Does Heaven Matter?” Mr. Pollack said, “Really, Heaven doesn’t matter.” And the synopsis of his opinion was this: It’s not so much whether Heaven exists or not, but as far as he was personally concerned, he didn’t care. And, you know, you find people on both extremes. You find people who do believe and people who don’t. And some people say, “Well, we’re living in such a terrible world, why do you try to think about things that are irrelevant, that are far removed from the sin, the pain, the need and the hurt of people and things today?” That...

Paul is speaking of himself in the third person...and he is giving his personal testimony of the time when he was caught up into the third heaven. He says it happened 14 years ago and as you count back and study the Book of Acts, it is probable that this took place on his first missionary journey and perhaps when he was stoned at Lystra and left for dead...maybe that's when the Lord caught him up into the third heaven and gave him a glimpse of that...we don't know that for certain. But, in these opening verses we need to understand why Paul is including this. The first few verses, Paul is speaking about of his...
