Paul the Apostle said, " I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live ; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." It is no longer I that liveth but Christ that liveth in Me. He lives, He lives, Jesus is alive in me, and it's no longer I that liveth but Christ that liveth in me. The CROSS. It offends. The CROSS, it polarizes. The CROSS, it legitimizes. Because of the CROSS, I am saved, I am healed, I am delivered, Because of the BLOOD OF THE CROSS, I am cleansed, I am washed, I am redeemed. BECAUSE of the CROSS, the...

Introduction: William Wallace asked the right question. If you saw the movie Braveheart, you know the story of the Scottish patriot. Mel Gibson directed and starred in the 1995 movie about the Scottish revolt in the 1400's. At one point in the movie, Wallace prepares a rag tag band of rebels for battle. They must face a larger and better-armed English army. His says to his men--"I am William Wallace, and I see before me an army of my countrymen here in defiance of tyranny. You have come to fight as free men, and free men you are. You are free, free from badges, free from flesh and free to love. What will you do with that freedom...

It is good to see everyone tonight. I really appreciate your being here tonight in God's house and it is a wonderful statement of your love for the Lord and His word and where you want to be. I'm just grateful to you for your presence and I really do appreciate it very, very much. If you will turn to the book of Galatians and tonight we will begin a study in the book of Galatians that we will be in on Sunday night and I call this study, "Breaking Free". You know people are living under such bondage today, some are under the bondage of guilt, some are under the bondage of sin, some are under the bondage of condemnation and God doesn't...

In the first two chapters of this book the Apostle Paul has been autobiographical in nature. He has been sharing his personal testimony. It is a remarkable story, as you know. Now, in chapter 3 and 4 he will give some doctrinal teaching. He will teach doctrine which under girds our faith. Somebody says, "I don't like doctrine." I don't like teaching, but teaching is important. It is essential because it is doctrine which gives the foundation for what we believe and ultimately how we behave. Then in chapters 5 and 6 he will become very practical and will apply the teaching which he has given. He starts off rather bluntly in...

1. Everyone knows that the basic job description of the church was given by the Lord Jesus Christ in The Great Commission. ''Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.'' (Mt. 28:19-20) 2. First of all, we are to make disciples by winning people to Jesus. Then we are to mark disciples by baptizing them into the church. Then we are to mature disciples by teaching them the Word of God. Now you can summarize all of that by the word...

If you have your Bibles today, turn to Galatians chapter 2, Galatians 2. I want to speak to you on a message I've entitled, "Living the God Life." Now, Susie came home to her parents. She brought her fiancée. It was the first time they had ever met him. And they had a nice dinner together. And then, her father took the fiancée into his study to talk to him and he began to ask him some questions. And he said to him, "Now, young man, what are your plans for the future?" And he said, "Well," he said, "I am a Torah scholar. I study the Old Testament Torah." And he said, "Well, that's admirable." He said, "How are you going to provide for my...

1. "Gentleman Jim" Corbett was an Irish-American heavyweight boxing champion who held the title for five years at the end of the nineteenth century. He once said, "Fight one more round. When your feet are so tired that you have to shuffle back to the center of the ring, fight one more round. When your arms are so tired that you can hardly lift your hands to come on guard, fight one more round. When your nose is bleeding and your eyes are black and you are so tired that you wish your opponent would crack you on the jaw and put you to sleep, fight one more round-remembering that the man who fights one more round in never...

Take your Bibles and turn to Galatians chapter 5, and in a moment I want to begin reading in verse 19. I want to talk to you about love, How to Love and How to Be Loved. Now, we have a generation today that talks an awful lot about love, but, very frankly, folks, we have a generation that knows perhaps less about love than any generation since the time of Christ. It is amazing how the word love has been twisted, perverted, and misused and abused today. People just don’t understand what love is. So many people think that love is an inexpressible emotion, sort of a outward inexpressibility of an inward all overishness. They just don’t even...

We're taking six weeks this fall to focus on the Holy Spirit. This has been one of the harder series that I've ever prepared, because the Holy Spirit is really woven throughout the entire Bible-so it's hard to pin it down to six messages. But it's been a really good challenge, and it's been awesome to hear how you guys are interacting with this and experiencing God in deeper ways through this study. So I'm excited to continue the series today. And today we get to talk about the Fruit of the Spirit. Sometimes, when churches talk about the Holy Spirit, there's a lot of focus on emotional experience, and supernatural displays of power...

Like many of you, I enjoy food, especially good southern cooking. My mom and grandma were the absolute best. I loved the corn, peas, butterbeans, green-beans, fried chicken, fried pork chops, cube steak, okra and squash. I loved the hoecake of cornbread fried on the stove and those made from scratch biscuits smothered in cane syrup. I loved everything they made, almost. I never developed a taste for collard greens or mustard greens. One thing about greens, you couldn't disguise them. There was no hiding them or passing them off as something else or something that I liked. Liver however was a different story....

We rarely go to the movies, so when we do, it has to be memorable. We like movies based on real characters and real stories, like Amelia Earhart or Hidden Figures. And we always stay for the credits, and I write down the best lines for sermon illustrations. Hoosiers is based on Milan High School's state championship in 1954, and I used one of its lines several years ago during a high school basketball game. Some of you know that I coach the Crawfordsville girls' basketball team and one night a JV player lost her cool. She go so mad she cussed at the referee and flipped off the crowd, and I had to physically run onto the court and remove her....

Have you ever been reading a book, laid it down for a while, and then picked it up again? You feel a little lost. You may even go back a few pages or even a chapter just to shock your brain cells into finding where you logged that information and bring it back to the forefront of you mind so you can pick up where you left off and have some sense of what's going on and where you are going? That's how I feel about our study in Galatians with the different trips, conferences and special services that have taken place. I feel a little out of sync, so I want us to spend a few moments going back and wading into the flow...

Have you ever had someone - pastors can relate to this, people in ministry can relate to this big time, Sunday school teachers can relate to this big time, but so can parents and so can guardians. When you have someone that you love, someone that you've invested your life into, and all of a sudden that person turns on you, it's not a fun thing. It's very bewildering how some people can do that. It's like, what happened? The last time I saw you just a month ago we were buddies and now you don't like me, and I don't remember doing anything to you. That's kind of the situation that Paul found himself in. And you know what was...
