OPEN: I once read the true story of woman who had been just learning to golf. She had been at it for about a month or so when her father-in-law invited her to go golfing with him. After teeing off on one of the holes, her father-in-law was intent on finding the ball he had sliced into the rough. Meanwhile the woman, concentrating deeply on her shot, was unaware of his position. Her shot was a low, whistling ball that passed within inches of his head. He instinctively dropped to the ground. Almost immediately the woman ran to him and blurted out, ''I would have warned you, but I couldn't remember the number to yell.''APPLY: What ''number''...

We are pursuing a series of studies, the final study I will give as your pastor, from the book of Deuteronomy. This is a series of sermons delivered by Moses, the leader, who was passing off the scene, to the people of God to prepare them for the days ahead. Moses is preparing the people for their entrance into the Promised Land. He has reviewed the past in the opening chapters in this first sermon of his and the journey which God had led them on as they had gone through the wilderness wandering experience. Now, they are on the verge of going into the Promise Land. God is delivering through Moses, His...

INTRO: The purpose of books is to preserve knowledge from one generation to another so that each generation doesn't have to start from scratch when learning about life. Verbal language alone was not enough to preserve knowledge, books were required to preserve the huge pool of knowledge gleaned from one generation to another, it has been the ability to preserve this knowledge in written form and thus making it available to each generation that has transformed humanity! It is therefore highly significant that God was so concerned for His people to preserve knowledge about Him and His ways that He Himself wrote....

I want you to be finding please, Deuteronomy chapter thirty two, and I want us to begin our reading tonight in verse nine, and I want you to remember the title of the message WHAT TO DO WHEN THE BOTTOM FALLS OUT. And the bottom has a way of falling out even for the children of God. I heard about a man the other day who said be had so many troubles that if something else happens to him it will be two weeks before he has time to worry about it. And then there's country song that says, ''If it weren't for bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all. Maybe you feel that way. Maybe you just feel like things are going wrong for you...

Deuteronomy Chapter 6. We're talking about ''HEAVEN'S HELP FOR HAPPY HOMES,'' and this morning, ''A HOUSE IN ORDER.'' Is your house in order? Well, we'll find out as you look at God's word with us today. And all through the month of May, we're going to be speaking on the Christian home, ''HEAVEN'S HELP FOR HAPPY HOMES.'' So tell your friends about it and invite them to come and be with us. Now, as we look at Deuteronomy Chapter 6, we see that God's plan for communicating His love and His truth to the world was the family. Your message is to be communicated not mainly through the...

1. There was an artist who wanted to paint a picture of the most beautiful thing in the world. So he went to his pastor and said, ''What is the most beautiful thing in the world?'' The pastor said, ''Faith - you can feel it in every church, and find it at every altar.'' 2. The artist asked a young bride the same question. She said, ''Love - love builds poverty into riches, it sweetens tears, it makes much of little, it is the most beautiful thing in the world.''3. He talked next to a soldier just back from battle. He said, ''Peace - peace is so beautiful because war is so ugly, and wherever you find peace you find beauty.'' 4. He thought to himself, ''Faith...

Diane Aulger had her labor induced and gave birth to their daughter January 18th. Mark saw and held his daughter that day as tears rolled down his face. He slipped into a coma on the 21st and died days later on January 23rd of complications related to his cancer treatment. Even though...

You can raise a young champion for God! That's what this weekend is all about: learning more about raising young champions for God. And Dads … it starts with us! A father of five came home with a new toy and called his children to meet him in the family room. Once they arrived he asked them which one of them should be given the toy. Here's what he asked them: ''Who is the most obedient and never talks back to Mother and does everything Mother says to do?'' There was silence, then they all said together, ''You play with it, Daddy,'' and they all walked out. Sometimes it gets confusing when we give our children advice and then set...

1. As you read the Bible you find that God employ's many parts of His creation to illustrate and portray lessons and truths that He wants His people to see and learn. On many occasions in His word, God draws our attention to several creatures and features of nature for the purpose of our learning from them. Oftentimes He uses the subjects and objects of His creation to illustrate His nature, His attributes, as well as His plan and purpose for our lives. 2. We often speak of ''Mother Nature'' but I prefer the term, ''Father Nature.'' If you were to look up the entry ''Mother Nature'' in the Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary you would....
