Philippians 3:7-8
We are beginning a brand new sermon series this week called ''SURRENDER.'' The purpose of this sermon series is to encourage the church to come into all that God has for her. God has wonderful things for us. The only way to get to them is through a full surrender to the will of God. There is no shortcut. The way to get to those wonderful things that God has for us is not always the easy way, but it is the best way. Why?
because it will bring glory to God
because it allows us to experience the ways of God
because it will increase our faith and cause us to trust in God
''Well if I come to Jesus then I am gonna have to give up a bunch of things.'' Yes but what will you gain? CHRIST! To know Him and to have Him is the most precious gift!
Lamentations 3:24 The Lord is my portion, says my soul. Therefore I hope in Him.
Philippians 3:7 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ.
LIKE THE OLD SONG SAYS:
I'd rather have Jesus than silver or gold;?I'd rather be His than have riches untold;?I'd rather have Jesus than houses or lands;?I'd rather be led by His nail-pierced hand
The Key to coming into all that God has for you in summed up in one word - SURRENDER!
The Surrendered Life is not the Easy Life.
Unlike what many churches and Christian TV shows would want you to believe that serving Jesus is all about what you can get out of it, Jesus demonstrated and showed us that the surrendered life is not necessarily the easy life. I do believe in the prosperity that comes by following God's Biblical principles, but I also believe that the cross is heavy at times and it can cause bruises and scars.
