Ephesians 5:17-33
If you have your Bible, please turn to Ephesians chapter 5. I hold in my hand the owner's manual for a 2011 F150 truck. This owner's manual belongs to Ron Murrow, one of our deacons and one of my dear friends. And I was talking to him today and I said, ''Hey, I'm going to talk about an owner's manual and I forgot mine in my car. Is your car close?'' And He said, ''Yes.'' And so he gave me this. You know, in this owner's manual, and everyone who buys a car, a used car, a new car; there should be one of these in the glove box. You know, if you get a computer, if you get a printer, if you get some appliance, it comes with some kind of an owner's guide, some kind of an owner's manual, that gives you directions on that vehicle, that gives you directions on that computer, on that printer, and things like that. It tells you how to set it up. It tells you how to work it. It tells you how to care for it. It tells you how to troubleshoot it. It's an important book. Now it's not something like the best seller, you know. It's like the new Hunger Games book. ''Oh, I've got to read my manual.'' But it's a really important book because if you don't understand your manual, chances are you're not going to use the product correctly, and you're going to have problems.
Now in marriage lots of us are having trouble. And one of the big reasons that people have trouble is they don't read the manual. They don't know how this thing is supposed to be set up. They don't know how it's supposed to work. They don't know how to troubleshoot it. They don't know how to care for it because they're not looking at the manual. There are two things you have to do. You have to read and you have to heed. Some people read and don't heed. Some people don't read and don't heed.?The key thing is you find out what God says and then you do what God says. You read and heed. J ...
