Introduction: Last weekend, (7.11.15), redheaded Smartphone users descended on Apple headquarters to vent their frustration at the emoji based discrimination that has befallen them. Emojis are those little pictographs that you can insert into text messages and such. Armed with a petition signed by more than 15,000 flame-haired supporters, the group is planning to have ginger emoji introduced to the iPhone maker's software for the first time. Emma Kelley is the founder of the ginger appreciation website, Ginger Parrot, said, ''Natural redheads may be rare at 2% of the population, but that is 138,000,000 iPhones waiting to happen.''

All that is to say that no one likes to be left out. No one wants to be on the outside. But we've been talking about Christians as the new outsiders for the last two months. Since this is the last message of this series let me review where we've been.

We began with the premise that once upon a time in America to be a Christian was to be, by default, an insider; to enjoy the favor of popular culture, the media and the government. But over the last few years that has changed and now the church has been marginalized and Christians find themselves as outsiders. Our theme scripture comes from the Hebrew writer who noted that Jesus was executed outside the gates of the city of Jerusalem, taken out and disposed like so much trash. Therefore, we Christians, when called upon, must be willing to follow Jesus outside of popular favor, bearing his shame. We traced the history of philosophical thought from the time of the Roman Empire right up until today and established that Western Civilization in general and America in particular were built upon Christian values and principles but those are rapidly being replaced by humanism.
