PRAYING DOWN REVIVAL
1 John 5:13-15
Dr. Stan Coffey
We're beginning a new series entitled "Praying Down Revival." Some people think revival is scheduling a day on the calendar and calling it revival. That's not Biblical revival. You can schedule a day and have a meeting, but you can't schedule a day for God to visit you. When revival comes, God's people are renewed, they're refreshed, they're restored, their needs are met, God moves in their midst, and those outside of Christ are drawn to Him because of revival. Revival is not worked up; it's prayed down. That's what we learn from the Bible. Revival comes as a result of prayer. So as we talk about praying down revival, I want to speak on the subject, "Prayer is the Answer." "These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life" (1 John 5:13a). He said, "I'm addressing this matter to you who have believed in the name of the Son of God. I'm addressing this to God's people." "And this is the confidence which we have before Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him" (1 John 5:14-15). So he says there's a kind of prayer that you can pray that you know God hears you. If God hears you, then we know that we have the request that we ask of Him. So for prayer to be answered, God has to hear that kind of prayer.
Whatever your need, prayer is the answer. If you need healing, prayer is the answer. If you need to be uplifted, prayer is the answer. If you have a loved one who's going through difficult times, prayer is the answer. If you lost a loved one this week, and you're walking in a time of loss and grief and sorrow, prayer is the answer. If you need a refreshment in your spiritual life, if you need a new touch from God, if you need a new zip in your walk ...
