Ever since I was a young kid, I have loved fishing. And so I have a lot of great childhood memories of being out on the lake, with my friends, fishing. And I remember one Saturday-my buddy Chris and I got on the lake real early-before the sun came up, and we started fishing. And we had this little, cheap electric motor that ran on a car battery. And we had it hooked up to this little row boat. And so there we were, in the quiet of the early morning, gliding along in the lake, and catching largemouth bass and pickerel…just doesn't get any better than that! Right? Some of you-agree with me?

And that little battery-powered motor ran out of juice after about two hours, so we started to row, and we started to move further and further away from home. But we didn't mind, because we were catching fish, so we took turns rowing and fishing.

And by about 12 noon, the sun was high in the sky, and we were pretty tired. Tends to happen when you wake up at 4:00 AM. And the fish had stopped biting. And we were exhausted from rowing. And starting to get sunburned. And by that time my friend and I were sick of fishing, and were sick of each other. But now we were about two miles from home. And that's a long way to row in a little dinky rowboat. So we came up with this plan-like only a couple of thirteen-year-olds could. We took the two oars from the boat, and we had a big beach towel with us, and we tied the beach towel to both of the oars, to make a big sail. And we raised that sail up-I was holding one oar and he was holding the other oar-and we waited for the wind. We were going to sail home! And we must have looked like the biggest idiots.

And there was no wind. And it was hot. And we just sat in the boat, and went nowhere.
