Sometimes there are steps that God wants us to take, or things that He wants us to do, but we're resistant to doing those things. Because we're comfortable where we are. Or we like security and stability. Or we're just really scared to take a big step. And I have found that sometimes God needs to give us a little push-to make us do things that we would never do on our own.

You remember this verse? It's at the very beginning of the book of Acts. And it's Jesus, speaking to his followers-little group of disciples-this was after the resurrection of Jesus, just before he left this earth. And look what he said: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.'' So Jesus says, in the days to come, you're going to be witnesses for me-just like if you were a character witness you would show up in court, and you would talk about what you know about a person's character, you're going to tell people what you know about me from your own personal experience with me. You're not going to be a salesman for the church; you're not going to tell people how great you are! Your role is to just keep pointing people to me! My witnesses.

And then he gets geographical, right? He says, you're going to point people to me, first, in Jerusalem. That's where they were at that moment. So in other words, start where you are. If your faith in Christ is real, you don't have to go on a mission trip to Bolivia to start pointing people to Christ, right? You just live out your faith with the people you're with every day! So start in Jerusalem! And then, he says also in all Judea and Samaria. In other words, don't stop with Jerusalem-you need to move out to some further regions. The gospel always has an outward push.
