And while you're finding that, I want to tell you about an event that's coming up. We are really excited about our Middle School and High School ministry this fall-especially with the arrival of our new Student Ministries pastor, Chad Groff. And there's going to be an event on September 10 to kick off the new year of Middle School and High School Ministry. Normally middle school and high school meet separately, but on this night they're meeting together because we're bringing in a group called ''3-2-1 Improv Comedy.'' And they do improv comedy; they interact with the audience; they get the kids involved; and they are very funny. So it's a great event to invite friends to, and on that night the kids will find out more about the coming year of middle school and high school ministry. So that's September 10; it's a Friday night. Looks like it's going to be a great event!
So…what does it look like when a group of people take God at his Word, and truly believe in the aliveness of Jesus, and live that out? That's really what the book of Acts is all about-it's the historical record of the early church.
And I want to remind you of what Jesus said to his followers after his resurrection, and just before he left the earth. They were all gathered around, and Jesus said this-Acts 1:8…''But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.''
So Jesus said, in the days to come, you're going to be witnesses for me-just like if you were a character witness you would show up in court, and you would talk about what you know about a person's character, you're going to tell people what you know about me from your own personal experience with me. You're not going to be a salesman for the church; you're not going to tell people how great you are! Your role is to just keep ...
