INTRODUCTION: Following the experience where Jacob stole his father's blessing from his brother Esau, Jacob is encouraged by his parents to leave home and return to the native land of his mother. His father, realizing that Jacob is to be the progenitor of the Messiah, encourages this since he does not want Jacob to take a wife from the daughters of the wicked Canaanite people.
