INTRODUCTION: In Genesis chapter 3, Adam and Eve commit the first sin, plunging the human race into a constant warfare with the powers of darkness. After Adam and Eve had sinned they tried to cover their own sin by sewing garments of fig leaves. This was symbolic of man's effort to cover his sin through religion, education, social reform, etc. Just as the fig leaves were inadequate to hide their sin from God so man's self-efforts today are inadequate to deal with the sin problem. Following their self-effort, their separation. from God became obvious. However, God in love and mercy began to seek man out as he walked through the Garden calling "where art thou?" After confronting Adam with his sin God begins to question Adam and Adam and Eve both respond with excuses, showing man's propensity to always blame his sin on someone else. However, God had a plan before the foundation of the world was formed. It was to defeat Satan through the very human race that he had attempted to destroy. A Savior was promised who would be the seed of the woman. The seed of the woman would eventually crush the head of the serpent (the power of Satan).
