Genesis 3:7-15
INTRODUCTION: In this lesson Adam and Eve discover the vital, terrible, awful truth of Galatians 6:7 "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." There is a saying that says "Life is short, death is sure, sin is the curse, and Christ is the cure." In this lesson we discover the curse of sin and the death it brings but also, praise God, we're going to find out something about the wonderful, glorious life that the Lord Jesus has provided for us.
I. SIN TURNS TO SHAME - verse 7
A. Why does the Bible say that after they had sinned they feel naked?
1. It was not that they were not clothed before
a. They were clothed with the garment of glory - Psalms 104:2
b. When Jesus Christ was transfigured he was clothed with the glory of God.
2. Before man sinned he was enveloped in glory but after sin he fell short of the glory of God and the glory of God departed
a. Man was originally created and "crowned with glory" - Psiams 8
b. Man is now conscious of his guilt and of his shame because the glory of God has departed from him
B. Adam and Eve felt a sense of shame because of their sin
1. We should feel a sense of shame for sin committed against God - Ezra 9:6
2. Some today do not feel a sense of shame, Jeremiah 6:15
3. Some even glory in their shame - Philippians 3:18
II. SHAME GAVE WAY TO SHAM - verse 7
A. The covering of fig leaves symbolized man made garments of religion, education, morality or ritual
B. Man's covering is inadequate - Titus 3:5
III. SHAM LEADS TO SEPARATION
A. They hid themselves from God - verse 8 ...
