II Peter: The New World Order And The End Of The World (27 Of 32)
Through the Bible Survey
Dr. Stan Coffey
11-24-91

AUTHORSHIP: Simon Peter - 1:1

DATE: Probably between 64 and 70 A.D.

THEME: A warning against corrupt teachers and scoffers and an effort to counteract the influence of false doctrine. Therefore, great emphasis was laid upon the Word of God as being divinely inspired. It is also an emphasis on the knowledge of God. The word "know" or "knowledge" is used at least thirteen times in this short epistle. This word does not mean a mere intellectual understanding of some truth but a living participation in the truth of God's Word. Knowing that he was soon to die Peter emphasizes the practical teaching of the Lord's second coming and of the end of the world.
