Introduction:
A study of the life of Christ reveals that angels provided Him protection and care. A beautiful expression of God's love is the tender care He showed toward Christ in dispatching angels to minister to Him. This gives us great confidence for God also dispatches angels to care for us.
How did the angels minister to Jesus Christ and how will they serve Him in the future?
I. THE MINISTRY OF ANGELS TO CHRIST AT HIS BIRTH.
A. Angels Predicted the Birth of Christ - Luke 1:26-31; 1:20-21.
B. Angels Announced the Birth of Christ - Luke 2:8-14.
II. THE MINISTRY OF ANGELS TO CHRIST DURING HIS EARTHLY LIFE.
A. Angels Protected Christ During His Earthly Life.
1. Matthew 2:19-20 tells us that angels warned the father of Jesus (Joseph) and told him to go into Egypt to escape the wrath of Herod.
2. Later an angel told them it was safe to return - Matthew 2:19-21.
B. Angels Strengthened Christ.
1. In Matthew 4:6 the devil pointed out to Jesus that according to prophesy in Psalm 91 that the Father would protect Him.
2. In Matthew 4:11 after Jesus had been tempted following His 40 day fast, the angels came and ministered to Him.
3. In Luke 22:42-43 Jesus agonized in the Garden of Gethsemane after which time there appeared an angel u ...
