INTRODUCTION: What is the Christian point of view toward evil people, people who would harm the Christian, people who would do him bodily harm or any other kind of harm? God gives both a prohibition and a promise. The prohibition is in Romans 12:19 where it says we're not to take vengeance upon those who harm us. But there is also a promise. That promise is in the phrase "vengeance is mine, I will repay, saith the Lord." But there is also a procedure. How does God repay? God repays through human justice and through human law. God says in Romans 13:1 and 2 that human government is ordained of God to act on His behalf – Romans 13:4. He is a minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. The same concept is taught in Genesis 9:6 and Exodus 21:12.
