INTRODUCTION: Why does a good God allow suffering? If God is all good and God is all powerful then why doesn't God do something about the starving masses of the world? If Cod is all loving and God has all power then why doesn't God stop the devastation of earthquakes, hurricanes and other natural disasters? Again and again we ask ourselves the question why is there so much suffering in the world? There is much in the Bible, which addresses the matter of the causes of human suffering.

I. PEOPLE SUFFER BECAUSE OF A FALLEN WORLD - Genesis 3:17-19

A. The world in which we live is not the world as God made it
B. When man chose to sin against God not only did man fall from his estate with God but the creation fell over which man had dominion. Since that time God has said ''cursed is the ground for thy sake''
C. One day God will create a new heaven and a new earth without suffering - Rev. 21 and 22

II. PEOPLE SUFFER BECAUSE OF THE OPERATION OF GOD'S MORAL LAW

A. God has placed natural laws within the universe and if these laws are broken they will bring suffering
B. God has placed spiritual laws in the universe and if these laws are violated they will bring suffering
1. Forgiveness is available and the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sin - even the spiritual consequences of sin
2. Forgiveness does not alter the human and physical consequences of sin - Gal. 6, 7 and 8

III. PEOPLE SUFFER BECAUSE O0F SATAN
