In the previous lesson we looked at Revelation 11:1-2, which dealt with the rebuilding of the Jewish temple in Jerusalem on its original site. This temple is being planned now. Many Jews leave funds in their wills to go toward the rebuilding of the temple. This is not a speculative matter; it is being planned. The Jewish temple may be rebuilt on its original site, which has been determined to be just east of the Dome of the Rock. So the temple could be rebuilt on the temple mound without removing the Moslem mosque and starting World War III. When the Antichrist is revealed, he will make a peace treaty with the Jews. What we are seeing in Israel today is a forerunner of that pact. Many things have happened in the '90s that people said would never happen. For example, people never dreamed the Iron Curtain, the wall between East and West Berlin, would come down, that communism would collapse in eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. But it happened, making possible the preaching of the gospel in that part of the world. Jesus said, "The gospel will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, then will the end come." Nobody could ever have believed that the Jews would consider a peace pact with the Palestinians; yet we are seeing today those peace negotiations continuing in the nation of Israel. When the Antichrist comes, he will sign the ultimate peace pact with Israel, guaranteeing them safety and protection in their own land. When this happens, the temple of God will be rebuilt. It may be rebuilt actually prior to the time of the Antichrist coming, or it may be built after he comes on the scene, but it will be rebuilt. It will have all of the Jewish characteristics of animal sacrifices, the priesthood, and all the utensils of worship used in Old Testament times. There is at the present time a rabbinic ...
