Now with our Bibles opened to John 15, let's go back for a few minutes to those top three areas in your life that you would like to see improved upon this year.

I can hear some of you thinking, ''What areas are you talking about?'' Well, a few weeks ago we wrote down the top three areas in our lives that need improving, strengthening this year. And if you weren't here, take a few minutes and consider your top three areas that you would like to see improved upon this year. For you it may be …

your spiritual life.
your understanding of the word of God
parenting skills.
your physical condition.
your witnessing abilities.

As you write them down, you can see these areas advance forward in one of two ways:

You can advance forward on your Feet: Your doing it!

Through your plans, your strength, your ways.

You can advance forward on your Knees: God doing it!

Through His plans, His strength, His ways.

Advancing on our feet can only take us so far. But advancing on our knees can take us really far. Why go just so far when you can go really far?

So when we pray, are there any restrictions? Well, John 15.7 doesn't sound like there are. That's where Jesus said, '' … ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.'' Has God given us a blank check?

How about John 14.13-14, ''And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.'' That sure sounds like Jesus is like a Genie that's just popped out of a bottle saying, ''Your wish is my command.''

Or what about Psm 37.4, ''Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.'' That certainly sounds like God has obligated Himself to give us whatever we desire.

Or what about Proverbs 10.24b, ''And the desire of the righteous will be granted.'' Well, what about that one? Are we not ...
