Now as you turn to Revelation 3, I want to tell you about a track athlete from Texas ATM, let's just call him Billy, since that was his name. He ran the 400 Intermediate Hurdles for Texas ATM and was one of the top Intermediate Hurdlers in the old Southwest Conference.

For several weeks each Spring, He competed against a 400 Intermediate Hurdler from Baylor University. Week after week, they would find themselves competing in the finals, seeing who could outrun whom.

Billy liked to play mind games. As his competitor from Baylor would be stretching and warming up for the race, Billy would have one of his teammates walk by his competition and happen to mention what a great week of workouts Billy had that week. And then in some colorful language tell him what Billy was about to do to him in the race. This would go on week after week. Ole Billy enjoyed trying to get an edge by using physiological warfare.

Now if that Baylor 400 Meter Intermediate Hurdler could stand here today, he would tell you that the actions of that one athlete, for him, cast a shadow over the entire institution. He had a bad taste in his mouth regarding the entire institution, because of the actions of just one of its student athletes.

As a result of that bad taste, he took pleasure in bad mouthing the school, never saying a positive word about the school and enjoyed making fun of those who attended the school. One of his favorite Aggie jokes he enjoyed telling was ''did you hear that all Aggies go to heaven? Of course they do, because none of them ever reach the age of accountability.'' The actions of one student athlete cast a shadow, for him, on the whole school

The same thing happens regarding restaurants. One bad meal, one bad experience will often times be all it takes, to decide not to ever return.
