Jesus might be the best known person who ever lived, but he is also the most misunderstood person because people have so many different opinions about who he is.

Buddhist's believe he was a great moral teacher. Hindus' believe he left us an example to follow. Muslim's believe he is a prophet. Most people believe he lived a godly life and was a moral teacher.

In Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis wrote, ''A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said wouldn't be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic on the level with a man who says he's a poached egg - or else he would be the devil of hell; you must take your choice.

Either this was, and is, the Son of God, or else a mad man or something worse. You can shut Him up for a demon, or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God. But don't come up with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great moral teacher. He hasn't left that alternative open to us. He did not intend to.''

We need to have a clear understanding of who Jesus is because it will determine what we think about him. Do we believe he was a man or God, was he the Savior or just a good teacher?

The OT promised a Messiah would someday come to deliver his people from their enemies and for centuries the Jews looked forward to his coming as they were oppressed by the Assyrians, then the Babylonians, the Greeks and finally the Romans.

When Jesus came healing the sick and preaching the kingdom of God was had hand the people had different opinions about who he was. They were confused about who he really was so some respected him while others hated him. Everyone had their own opinion, but for many of them their opinion was wrong.
