Your Endurance Is Built By The Trial Of Your Faith
Claude Thomas
James 1:3
I. Your endurance is built by the trial of your faith
Explanation of the Text James wrote to a people facing trials. They lived in a world of pagan worship and emperor worship. Because of their commitment to Jesus as Lord, many were falling victims of the sword, the fire, adn the lions of the ampitheatres. James told them to rejoice when they exprerienced the trials of many kinds. Why? Because he was a person with a lunatic mind or some masochistic maniac? No. He knew that the trials would build something. They would build endurance (1:3). Rejoice, not because of trials, but because of what they would build. James placed a premium on endurance.
Application of the Text The Reality of trials is just as obvious today as when James wrote his epistle.
