Prayer and Fasting

Mark 9:14-29
He is the only one who can meet our greatest need! It's not a matter of more preaching or more singing or more programs: it's a matter of more power, Holy Spirit power!
We need the power of God to fall upon us and refresh and renew us!
We need the power of God to fall upon us giving us a passion for holiness!
We need the power of God to fall upon us giving us a hunger for His word!
We need the power of God to fall upon us so that we will prioritize worship!
We need the power of God to fall upon us giving us a spirit of generosity!
And that kind of visit from God will not take place a part from prayer and fasting. I've just completed my fifth week of one day fasts in preparation for ''The Prayer Gathering.''
I'm eating lunch on Mondays and then the fast begins and ends on Tuesday at lunch. During my fasts, I'm drinking water, V8 Fusion Light for energy and to help keep my blood sugars level.
By the way, my blood sugar level on Tuesday, after fasting 24 hours was 103. During that 24 hour fast, I'm praying for God: *to give me a greater desire for holiness; *to give me greater insight into His word;
By the way, He woke me up at 3:30 AM on Tuesday and gave me the outline for this morning's message. I got up, wrote it down and went back to sleep. I'm praying and fasting for God *to give me wisdom in leading our church *for spiritual awakening in your life; *to give you a greater awareness of his presence.
We'll be talking more about fasting in a couple of weeks in preparation for ''The Prayer Gathering.''
I can tell you this: prayer power increases when accompanied with fasting. And if you don't believe it, look with me to Mark 9 where Jesus healed a boy and how He did it.
