The Faith That Saves: Lord's Supper Service

Numbers 21:4-9
Now as we prepare for the Lord's Supper, take your Bible and turn with me to Numbers 21. You may think it's odd that we're reading from Numbers 21 in preparation for the Lord's Supper, but there is really nothing odd about it.
Frankly, we could look to any book in the Bible and find a good text in preparation for the Lord's Supper, because all 66 books of the Bible is about Jesus. ''Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. (Hebrew 12.2)
''Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrew 11.1)
''But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.'' (Hebrews 11.6)
''For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.'' (Ephesians 2.8)
''So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.'' (Romans 10.17)
Without faith we cannot please God.
Without faith we cannot know God.
Without faith we cannot approach God.
Therefore, we better be able to define faith and determine if we have faith. The closest we get to a definition of faith in the Bible is Hebrews 11.1, ''Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.'' Let me give you a definition of faith I heard years ago, that has helped me better understand it: ''Faith is taking God at his word and doing i ...
