With our Bibles opened to 1 Corinthians 15, the great resurrection chapter. I counted fifteen reference to Christ's resurrection in this 15th chapter that begins with ..

(1) The MANDATE of the Gospel.

How we are to:

*preach the gospel: that is our calling!
*receive the gospel: that is our choice!
*stand on the gospel: that is our conviction!

For we are

*saved by the gospel: that is our confidence.

And then from the Mandate of the gospel in the verse two verses we find in verses 3-4 ..

(2) The MESSAGE of the Gospel.

And that gospel message is centered around three timeless truths:

*Christ paid for our sins: He died as a sacrifice and as our substitute.
*Christ put away our sins: He was buried.
*Christ prevailed over our sins: He rose the third day.

And then this morning we saw from verses 12-20 …

(3)The MUST of the Gospel.

What makes the gospel necessary is that without the resurrection:

*preaching is profitless.
*faith is futile.
*disciples are deceivers.
*sin is sovereign.
*death has dominance.
*future is fearful.
