Philippians 2:1-4
Philippians 2:1-4 (NIV) 1 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
We've been looking at the topic that in order for DBC to go Viral and sweep across here in Dallas and the Back Mountain, the church must show Love...
Love, first for God...Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your might, and second, we must love both the people within the church but also the people who are not yet part of the church...we must love our neighbors as ourselves...
We saw one PART of this a couple weeks ago when we talked about HOW we must ACCEPT people as people.
We accept people as people because they are created by the Same God Who created and saved each one of us. You'll also remember though, that we aren't told in God's Word that we're to accept sin, but what we are told is that we MUST LOVE people...so we need to accept people because they are important to Jesus Himself.
Then that brings us to another aspect of showing this love...we need to show Appreciation to people Paul speaks of this in verses 2, 3, and 4... having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
