To Believe For A Future (1 of 4)
Series: It's Your Time

Isaiah 43:18-19
Today I am beginning a new series It's Your Time! I believe that God is Good and is working things out in our lives. Many of us have gone through some difficult times and find it difficult to believe that God is really Good.
Well in this series we will look at the Word of God and see what the Bible has to say about God the Father. How He brings us through storms and comforts us in the difficult times.
This series will build hope in you and get you to look towards Jesus. For the Bible says that Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our Faith.
Every New Year I come with a Hope that God is going to do something new in my life and ministry. We are talking about Life!
Life is made up of 3 elements:
1. Past
2. Present
3. Future
Each one of these elements are crucial to having God move in our lives in 2011
Text: Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV
Background: Isaiah's writings to the children of Israel came at a bleak period of their history. They are in captivity, they have lost everything they thought they would keep forever, and they were home sick for the land and the blessing God had promised them.
The first step to Believe for a Future is
I. Change Your Focus - Quit Looking Behind, Start Looking Ahead v. 18 (Past)
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
A. Forget the Former Things - forget means it is not in the forefront of your mind.
1. You cannot depend on your past victories to sustain you.
2. Past victories should be an encouragement for present day situations.
3. Many people cannot believe for a future because they are stuck in the past.
Key Pt: The question isn't what God has done - the question must be what
Is God doing in your life right now?
What are you believing for God to do right now.
B. Do not dwell on the past -
Dwell - to exist or continue in a given condition or state, to be motionless
