Ephesians 2:1-6
When we fast and pray, our spirit man comes to the forefront. We become more aware of the presence of God in our lives, and there is an expectation that God is about to do something new! As we consecrate ourselves to the Lord by carving out time in our schedule to purpose to be with Him and we carve away some of the things that are pleasurable to our old carnal nature, we start to feel God moving in us personally to replace the old nature with a brand new nature - ''Fast and Furious''
We begin to see Him breaking through some of the barriers that have been seemingly impossible to get through (hence my slogan for the year, ''God will intervene in 2014'')
And corporately there is an increase in the expectation level of God's people and we begin to see the manifestation of the move of the Holy Spirit in our services and in our fellowships.
Gerri said to me, ''Lenny, this is the way that it always should be.'' She is right. We should always be putting Jesus first in our lives. Giving Him our best. Seeking first His Kingdom and His righteousness.
This is the Spirit-led life. Listen as humans, we let our flesh live in the forefront and God is just another department in our lives. We plug Him in when we desperately need Him, but for the remainder of our time, we are just living for ourselves.
We are to be SPIRIT FILLED and SPIRIT LED Christians.
• Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. In other words, the SPIRIT LED LIFE IS CHARACTERISTIC OF A CHILD OF GOD.
As the Holy Spirit comes to the forefront in our lives through fasting and prayer, our confidence in His presence is increased and His involvement in the things that we are going through becomes more evident. We surrender more and strive less.
SO I SAY TO YOU, TAKE THE POSTURE OF PRAYER. What does that mean? What does that look like?:
