We’ve been talking about the Terminal Generation for the past few Sundays and we will continue this series for two more weeks at least as we look at the conditions of the last days.
Again and again at the Southern Baptist Convention as we heard inspirational messages some of our greatest preachers reiterated that they felt we are living in the last of the last days, the days just before the coming of the Lord.
The reason for that is as we study the Bible and we look at Bible conditions that are described that will exist during the last days and we parallel that with what we see in our cultures and in world events. It seems that our time for reaching the world with missions, reaching the world with the gospel is very short.
What the church is going to do it must do now. We are living in days of great urgency. We are not living in days when we need to hold the fort. We are not living in days when it is business as usual. We are living in times that are very short.
Now notice what John said in 1 John Chapter 2, Verse 18 as he spoke about the last days. He said, “DEAR CHILDREN, THIS IS THE LAST HOUR; AND AS YOU HAVE HEARD THAT THE ANTICHRIST IS COMING, EVEN NOW MANY ANTICHRISTS HAVE COME. THIS IS HOW WE KNOW IT IS THE LAST HOUR.
THEY WENT OUT FROM US, BUT THEY DID NOT REALLY BELONG TO US. FOR IF THEY HAD BELONGED TO US, THEY WOULD HAVE REMAINED WITH US; BUT THEIR GOING SHOWED THAT NONE OF THEM BELONGED TO US.
BUT YOU HAVE AN ANOINTING FROM THE HOLY ONE, AND ALL OF YOU KNOW THE TRUTH. I DO NOT WRITE TO YOU BECAUSE YOU DO NOT KNOW THE TRUTH, BUT BECAUSE YOU DO KNOW IT AND BECAUSE NO LIE COMES FROM THE TRUTH. WHO IS THE LIAR? IT IS WHOEVER DENIES THAT JESUS IS THE CHRIST. SUCH A PERSON IS THE ANTICHRIST—DENYING THE FATHER AND THE SON.”
