II Peter 3:10-13
If you want to turn to II Peter Chapter 3 in your Bible we are going to begin reading at Verse 10 or you can look there on your outline if you do not have a Bible and you can read along with us as we read.
Today’s topic is “How the World Will End”. As we’ve been thinking about that generation that will be on earth when Christ comes the second time, will also be the generation that will be on earth when the world comes to an end. Let’s look at what the Bible says about that right now.
“BUT THE DAY OF THE LORD WILL COME AS A THIEF IN THE NIGHT, IN WHICH THE HEAVENS WILL PASS AWAY WITH A GREAT NOISE, AND THE ELEMENTS SHALL MELT WITH FERVENT HEAT; THE EARTH AND THE WORKS THAT ARE IN IT WILL BE BURNED UP.
SEEING THEN THAT ALL THESE THINGS WILL BE DISSOLVED, WHAT MANNER OF PERSONS OUGHT YOU TO BE IN HOLY CONDUCT AND GODLINESS, LOOKING FOR AND HASTENING THE COMING OF THE DAY OF GOD, WHERE IN THE HEAVENS BEING ON FIRE,
SHALL BE DISSOLVED AND THE ELEMENTS SHALL MELT WITH FERVENT HEAT? NEVERTHELESS WE, ACCORDING TO HIS PROMISE, LOOK FOR NEW HEAVENS AND A NEW EARTH IN WHICH RIGHTEOUSNESS DWELLS.”
Now as you look at this passage of scripture, not only these verses but as you go back a little bit in this passage to Verse 1 all the way up to about Verse 13, the Bible talks about three different worlds. This is not the only world that has existed on the earth.
In fact, the Bible says there was a pasts world and then there is this present world then there is a perceptive world or a future world and so I want us to look at these three worlds and the last one of course is the world that is going to be.
