Can you remember a time when you did something for someone that you knew they really wanted you to do or that they would appreciate? If you're a parent maybe you can remember a time when one of your children did something that you had asked them to do many times, or that you were trying to teach them, but this time they did it without you having to ask them. Maybe it was something simple, like taking out the garbage, or washing the dishes, or mowing the yard. Or something more significant in the way they handled some conflict or how they treated someone else. But they took some responsibility, and they acted as you wished they would and they did it willingly and joyfully. When those moments happen parents are wowed and we think, "Yes, they get it. They have been listening." And we are proud and blessed that they are being responsible.

I don't know what God in heaven did, but I can imagine that when he saw what his children were doing in Antioch, he may have smiled and thought, "Yes, my children are finally getting it." Because for the first time God's people are bringing the Gospel to the Gentiles and they are doing it intentionally. True, the barriers have been coming down for some time, but what happened in Antioch was a first. And with no great fanfare Luke describes this turning point in Christendom in just one verse. "Some of them . . . men from Cyprus and Cyrene, went to Antioch and began to speak to Greeks also, telling them the good news about the Lord Jesus" (v.20).

The Great Commission that Jesus gave His followers, to "go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you" (Matt. 28:18-20), it's now happening!
