For a couple of weeks now, we have been considering the Christmas Family Tree that is found beginning in Matthew 1.1, "The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham." In some ways, the family tree of Jesus isn't all that different from yours. Some of the names in your family tree make you proud and you're quick to talk about them. But there are other names in your tree that you would rather not talk about.

Well, what's true about our tree is also true about Jesus' Family Tree. You wouldn't think there would be Gentile's in His tree, much less Gentile Women, but there are!

There on the fifth limb of His family tree you find Rahab the Harlot and Ruth the Moabitess. What opposites they were! Rahab was a prostitute and Ruth was a virtuous woman and yet there was room for both of them in the Christmas Family Tree!

Let me tell you something: you don't have to fit into a mold to be LOVED by God, to be KNOWN by God, to be BLESSED by God or to be USED by God! God has made you uniquely you! You be you because nobody else can be you! When you are not you, guess what? Then you are missing! And when you are missing, what God planned for you goes unfulfilled.

Now with just three days to go before Christmas Day I want to speak to you not about the Surprises on the Christmas Family Tree, I want to speak to you about the Star of the Christmas Family Tree; that "bright and morning Start." And that star is found on the 16th limb:

"And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born JESUS who is called Christ."
