Isaiah 9:6-7
You take your Bibles and turn to Isaiah chapter 9. I'm going to begin reading in verse 6. Isaiah the prophet said in the 700s B.C., "For a Child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders. And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, on the throne of David and over His kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness from then on and forever more. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this."
Let's pray. Lord, teach us today from Your Word and speak to our hearts. And, Lord, we want our hearts to be good soil to receive from You. And, Lord, we do want You to shine through us. And, Lord, shine by Your Spirit, areas in our heart that aren't yielded to You so that we could be all You want us to be and surrender anew and afresh to You. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
Companies spend millions and millions of dollars each year with advertising agencies, to come up with a slogan, with an ad campaign, that will really work, that will really catch people. And they play them on television. They play them on the radio. They have little jingles. And the best ones are the ones that we remember. So I want us to have a little test this morning, this Christmas morning, and I'm going to give you some ad campaign and you tell me what the product is, what the company is. Here's the first one. "It's the real thing." Coca-Cola, that's right. You're one for one. How about this one, "Just do it." Nike, right? How about this one, this is a little older one, "Takes a licking and keeps on ticking." Timex. If you're above 30, you probably don't know that one (laughter). All right, how about this one, it's a harder one, "Does she or doesn't she?" (laughter). Okay. Yeah, it's Clairol. It's for hair d ...
