The Will of God (2 of 4)
Series: The Will of God
Lenny Ports
Last week, I gave the introduction to the series we will be covering over the next 3 weeks on the Will of God. We defined the word "WILL" from the webster's dictionary and then translated those definitions into what the word of God says about the WILL OF GOD.
3 things:
1. something desired,
2. a disposition to act according to principles,
3. a legal declaration of a person's wishes regarding the disposal of his or her property or estate after death."
1) In God's will, He has plans, desires, hopes, and dreams for your life! Have you ever asked God, "Lord what is Your dream for my life?" Pray that prayer and watch God download His dream for your life into your spirit and it will become your dream! The beauty about dreams is that when they come from God, you know they are from God. It wasn't anything that you could have fathomed yourself, and it wasn't the SPICY MEATBALL you ate last night!
2) God's will is found in His word. The purpose for spending time in the Word of God, the reason we meet every week and do all this work is so that we can have the opportunity to hear God's Word and let it change our lives. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. The purpose of CHURCH is to experience God and to grow in our faith in Him. The will of God is found in a PERSON, Jesus Christ, and the will of God for our lives is found in the His Word. Each and every week we are learning the Word and getting BUILT UP IN HIM.
3) God's will is activated through death. When Jesus died on the cross for you and me, His will and testament was activated for us in that we now have rights to the inheritance which includes all the blessings, gifts, and promises in this life and the life to come. Heaven, mansions, and rewards await those that wait for Him! Don't forget there is an inheritance waiting for you.
