This morning we are going to begin a brand new series of messages called, "Growing An Effective Church". If you have your bulletin, you'll notice in your bulletin today's message is "Choosing the Church That Is Right For You">
There's a baseball diamond on the second page of the bulletin. It's baseball season and the baseball diamond reflects the four areas of ministry, the four areas that we're committed to at San Jacinto. We're committed to membership, committed to maturity, committed to ministry, and committed to missions.
So we'll be talking about membership today and then we'll be talking maturing in the faith, growing in Christ and ministering, and then our mission. I hope it will be a blessing to you.
The Sunday scriptures are there in your outline and also if you will take a pen or pencil and fill in parts of the outline and follow the message and have something to take home to remember the message by.
If you have your Bible and want to turn to the passage Ephesians 2:19 is where we are going to begin with "Choosing a Church That Is Right For You". We are talking about today membership and the meaning of membership.
Ephesians 2:19, Paul said in the version I'm reading from, "CONSEQUENTLY, YOU ARE NO LONGER FOREIGNERS AND ALIENS BUT FELLOW CITIZENS WITH GOD'S PEOPLE AND MEMBERS OF GOD'S HOUSEHOLD."
Then in my Living Bible the same verse, "YOU ARE MEMBERS OF GOD'S VERY OWN FAMILY AND YOU BELONG IN GOD'S HOUSEHOLD WITH EVERY OTHER CHRISTIAN."
This past year in Newsweek carried an article that was entitled, "A Little Child Shall Lead Them: Young Americans Return To God". The article says having transformed American Society as they march toward middle a ...
