Hebrews 11:1-6
I.THE DEMAND OF FAITH
II. THE DYNAMICS OF FAITH
III. THE DIRECTION OF FAITH
IV. THE DEVELOPMENT OF FAITH
I want us tonight to learn something about faith - the vision of faith. If you will turn please to the faith chapter, Hebrews Chapter 11, we're going to study beginning in Verse 1 and look at the first six verses.
Hebrews Chapter 11, you may want to take your pen or pencil and write some of these things down as we study together and we talk about faith, how you get faith and how you grow your faith, how to develop your faith.
Beginning in Verse 1, I want you to notice what God says and then keep your Bible open to this passage. "NOW FAITH IS THE SUBSTANCE OF THINGS HOPED FOR, THE EVIDENCE OF THINGS NOT SEEN. FOR BY IT THE ELDERS OBTAINED A GOOD REPORT.
THROUGH FAITH WE UNDERSTAND THAT THE WORLDS WERE FRAMED BY THE WORD OF GOD, SO THAT THINGS WHICH ARE SEEN WERE NOT MADE OF THINGS WHICH DO APPEAR.
BY FAITH ABEL OFFERED UNTO GOD A MORE EXCELLENT SACRIFICE THAN CAIN, BY WHICH HE OBTAINED WITNESS THAT HE WAS RIGHTEOUS, GOD TESTIFYING OF HIS GIFTS: AND BY IT HE BEING DEAD YET SPEAKETH.
BY FAITH ENOCH WAS TRANSLATED THAT HE SHOULD NOT SEE DEATH; AND WAS NOT FOUND, BECAUSE GOD HAD TRANSLATED HIM: FOR BEFORE HIS TRANSLATION HE HAD THIS TESTIMONY, THAT HE PLEASED GOD.
BUT WITHOUT FAITH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE HIM: FOR HE THAT COMETH TO GOD MUST BELIEVE THAT HE IS, AND THAT HE IS A REWARDER OF THEM THAT DILIGENTLY SEEK HIM."
Notice the Bible says, "Without faith it is impossible to please God' and the last part of Verse 5 says, "That Enoch had this testimony that he pleased God."
