2nd Thessalonians 1:11-12
I heard a story about two boys; they went to visit Grandma, yet just young guys, 7 and 9. And so they're visiting Grandma. And it comes nighttime and so she says, "Now, you boys, off to bed. And remember to say your prayers." And so they got down and they started to pray. The younger one starts praying. He's praying really loudly. And he's saying, just yelling it out, "And God, You know I want a bike. And, God, I'd really like to have a skateboard. And, God, You know I'd like a new laptop." And his brother's listening to all that, and it's like, "Why are you screaming? God isn't deaf." He said, "I know, but Grandma is" (laughter).

And we come before the Lord and we're just like, "God, I want a bike. And, God, I want this. And, God, I want this. And, God, I want this." And we just kind of check off the list and then, we wonder, Man, why don't I see more happen in my life? Why don't I see more prayers get answered? I think one of the reasons is that we don't really know how to pray. I mean, we know how to do it, but we don't know how to connect with God. You know, prayer, real prayer, is when you connect with God. And when you share your heart with God and He shares His heart with you, there's a connection there. One of the things I like at our church when we were coming up with the name for the room that we would take people to talk to them about the Lord was calling it: The Connection Room. You know, that's really what our church exists to do, it's to connect people with God, connect lost people with the Savior, connect saved people with the God who loves them, who wants to work in their lives and change their lives, and it's all just connection. And prayer is just co ...
