Hebrews 1:14
INTRO: Take your Bibles now this morning and be finding your place at Hebrews chapter 1 again if you will. Hebrews chapter 1, and verse number 14. This is our primary text in a brand new, series of studies that we began last week that I've entitled, "Angels and Demons: What The Bible Really Teaches."
ILLUS: One day God was looking down at Earth and saw all of the evil that was going on. He decided to send an angel down to Earth to check it out. So he called one of His best angels and sent the angel to Earth for a time.
When he returned he told God, yes it is bad on Earth, 95% is bad and 5% is good.
Well, he thought for a moment and said, maybe I had better send down a second angel to get another point of view.
So God called another angel and sent him to Earth for a time too. When the angel returned he went to God and told him yes, the Earth was in decline, 95% was bad and 5% was good.
God said this was not good. So He decided to E-mail the 5% that were good and He wanted to encourage them, give them a little something to help them keep going.
Do you know what that E-mail said???? You didn't get one of those emails either,.....huh?
(That's a bad joke and even worse theology.)2 ILLUS: I had one of our members tell me last week, "My wife's an angel." "Always up in the air, harping about something."
ILLUS: Of course, that's better than the man who told his friend, "My wife's an angel." And the other man said, "You're lucky, mine's still alive."
There is a lot of confusion, a lot of craziness that comes from really what is simply a lack of Biblical understanding or knowledge on the subject of angels today.
Obssession - Angels are everywhere! Omission - Angels are nowhere!
My prayer, my hope is that in and through this series of studies that you'll be: Encouraged and equipped; Confronted and comforted
That you won't just simp ...
