INTRO: I want you to take God's Word and be finding your place at 2nd Samuel chapter 23 if you would. 2nd Samuel 23, and I want to share with you a message entitled, ''Mission Impossible.''

Have you ever wanted something that you knew was impossible?

• Maybe it was a job you knew you'd never get.
• Maybe it was an award you knew you'd never win.
• Maybe it was a chance that you knew would never come around again.

- But there was something that you wanted that you knew was absolutely, completely, totally impossible.

You know, for some guys - no, for most guys - that would probably be to someway, somehow figure out women.

ILLUS: I heard about a man who was walking along a beach one day, kind of kicking at the rocks when he happened to kick up an old lamp. Well, he'd heard all of those stories like we have about how these old lamps on the beach always have a genie in them, so he rubbed it and sure enough a genie popped out, but when that genie popped out the guy could tell immediately that he wasn't really happy. That genie looked at that guy and said, ''You're the 5th guy this month to find my lamp, rub it and wake me up. I'm tired of handing out three wishes to every guy that comes along, so you only get one - make it a good one. The guy thought about it for a minute and finally said, ''You know, I going to Hawaii. So, build me my own, private bridge so that I can go to Hawaii anytime I want to.'' The genie looked back at him and said, ''Do you have any idea what all's involved in that wish? Do you realize how long that bridge would be and how deep that water is and how thick and strong I'd have to make those supports? That's too tough of a wish, make another one.'' Well, the guy rubbed his head and wrung his hands and thought about it for a moment and then he said, ''I've got it. I want to understand women. I want to know how they work and what they think and how to keep them happy.'' That gen ...
