I want you to turn tonight the study in the life of Elisha, living a miraculous life, 1 Kings Chapter 19. We’ll begin in just a moment in Verse 19. Tonight I want to speak on the first of these messages on the life of Elisha on “Design for Discipleship”.
I look at this story in the life of the prophet Elisha and I see how important it is for my own life because Elisha is the prophet of the abundant life. His was a miraculous life and his was a miraculous ministry. God wants our lives to be miraculous; God wants our ministries to be miraculous.
The Bible says in John 10:10 Jesus said, “I’VE COME THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE LIFE AND THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE IT MORE ABBUNDANTLY.” Now what is abundant life? What did Jesus mean when He said, “I’ve come that you might have life more abundantly”?
Well, abundant life is having all your needs met, but it I s more than that. Abundant life is not only having your needs met but it is also having such an overflow in your life that there is enough left over to share with those about you; that you might minister to others. That’s what abundant life is.
God meeting your needs in such a wonderful way that He just overflows your life and you are able to be a channel of blessings for which God can minister to all those around about you. I think that is what God has in mind for San Jacinto Baptist Church.
God wants our church to be a church of the abundant life, a life that overflows. God wants to meet our needs but He wants to do so much more than that; He wants to give us life abundantly. Not only do you have a blessing but when you have abundant life you are a blessing.
That is what God wants for us. Every day and in every way we’re are to be experiencing victory in and through the Lord Jesus Christ. This is what I mean when I say not ...
