Secondhand religion: drains your life of joy, passion and purpose.
Firsthand relationship: fills your life with joy, passion and purpose.
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness." Matthew 23:27,28 (NKJV)

RELATIONSHIP
"Now a man named Lazarus was sick. He was from Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. This Mary, whose brother Lazarus now lay sick, was the same one who poured perfume on the Lord and wiped his feet with her hair. So the sisters sent word to Jesus, 'Lord, the one you love is sick.'" Vs. 1-3 (NIV)

"So then he told them plainly, 'Lazarus is dead, and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him'." Vs. 14, 15 (NIV)

Well, today we begin a powerful and life-changing adventure that is becoming a movement across our country. Woodlands Church, today we start The Firsthand Experience, and you'll be leading hundreds of churches around the nation who will be following us doing The Firsthand Experience that is based on the new book by my sons, Ryan and Josh, called Firsthand, Ditching Secondhand Religion for a Faith of Your Own. And, they have been so humbled and amazed at how God is using this to penetrate the secular culture in which we live. And today, in fact, it debuts at #4 on the New York Times in the paper today, and I just am so thrilled because they don't really care about that stuff, but really what we care about is really making a difference in the secular culture, and they have gotten so many secular media interviews, and they are just amazed at how God is using this as so much of the media is surprised at how important faith is and a relationship with God is. And it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, and really The Firsthand Experience is based on why Jesus came in the first place.
Jesus said this in John 10:10:
