We are in a new series that I started last week that's one of the most important that I've every preached, because it's all about what matters most in life. It's all about why God has left us here on earth in the first place. Have you ever thought about it? Once you commit your life to Christ, then you know you are going to Heaven. Once you commit your life to Christ, it's for sure that you're going to Heaven. So why doesn't God just snap His fingers and zap you and send you on to Heaven as soon as you commit your life to Christ? Well, He doesn't do that for a reason. He leaves you here on this earth for a purpose, and that's what we're looking at in this series. Now, last week I showed you a clip from the television show "Everybody Loves Raymond" as Raymond's daughter asked him, "Daddy, why did God put us here?" Well, Raymond, along with millions of others throughout history, really struggle with that question. So today we pick it back up where Raymond is still struggling with the question, "What on earth are we here for?" Just watch ...

Now, fortunately the Bible does tell us why we are here. Jesus said in The Great Commandment we are here to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and to love our neighbor as ourselves. He was saying the reason why we are here is to love Him with all our heart and to love others around us. Look at our first verse. Galatians 5:6. It tells us. "The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love." Underline the phrase the only thing that counts. The only thing that matters in life is not how big your bank account is. It's not fame. It's not fortune. It's not success. The only thing that really matters in life is a faith in Christ that expresses itself in loving others. Do you know what that is? That's kindness. We said last week that kindness is love in action. Kindness is giving away love. Love is really useless until it's given away. Until it turns into kindness. That's why we are in a series I am calling "The Power of Kindness."
