This sermon includes the sermon outline and the full sermon transcript. Below you will see a preview of the outline and a portion of the full sermon.
"God is faithful and reliable. If we confess our sins, he forgives them and cleanses us from everything we've done wrong." 1 John 1:9 (GW)
Forgiveness and Faithfulness
• Forgiveness isn't shallow
• Forgiveness isn't restoration
• Forgiveness isn't normal, but it's necessary
• Forgiveness isn't natural; it's supernatural
1. BREATHE OUT BITTERNESS
"If he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times comes back to you and says, 'I repent,' forgive him." Luke 17:4 (NIV)
2. BREATHE IN GRACE
"Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered." Psalm 32:1 (KJV)
"The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him. John said, 'Look, the Lamb of God. He takes away the sin of the world!' " John 1:29 (ICB)

We are in a church wide adventure that we are calling the "Be Weird Challenge" and it is based on a new book my friend Craig Groeschel titled "Weird Because Normal Isn't Working" and we have said if you want what normal people have then do what normal people do, but if you want what few people have do what few people do. That is, if you want to be stressed out, overwhelmed without any time for the relationships that matter most in life, always feeling empty on the inside, then live a normal life, but if you want what few people have, peace and joy, contentment, fulfillment, then you've got to get off of the normal road and onto the narrow road. I was watching the major league baseball playoffs the other day between the Brewers and the Diamondbacks and flipping through the channels it went into extra innings in the decisive game and the Brewers won in extra innings and as soon as the game was over a reporter put a microphone into the face of the guy who got the game winning hit and he just yelled out the F-word a couple of times on national television and no one really thoughts that much of it because it has just become a normal thing to hear the F-word said in our society today. Uhm we hear it in the movies all of the time and our ears just become numb to it. It is just normal in our society to be bombarded with the F-word.
I was driving my car the other day and I pulled out onto Interstate 45 and I must have pulled in front of someone. Sometimes I kind of zone out when I drive and I will get to a place and I don't even remember anything you know about how I got here. I was just zoned out, thinking creative thoughts or something, anyway and I must have pulled out in front of them because they sped up and honked at me and on the way by he gave me the unfriendly wave that reminded me that I am still number one and no he gave me that international symbol of the F-word.
