We're in a series that I'm calling Trading Spaces, and it's all about understanding the opposite sex. For the next several weeks in this series, we're sort of trading spaces and trying to look at life from the other's perspective.
Now today we're talking about men, so I thought I would begin with something near and dear to a man's heart - this little baby. (Laughter) We even have cheers, guys. Go ahead. The remote control.... Someone once said, "If you want to get a man to do sit-ups, put the remote control between his toes, and that will work."
Now I want to illustrate the four levels of life that men live in by using something, guys, that we can relate to...entertainment and technology. First I have over here an old-fashion radio. When was the last time you saw one of these? (Music) Big band sound...I like that. But, this is what I call level one...the radio level. Now many guys live at level one - this radio level. At the radio level, you can't really see your purpose in life. You can't really see much of anything at the radio level. But, a lot of guys just live at this level - scratching and clawing their way through life just trying to make it.
Then we have the second level. I have up here an old black and white television. (Sound) Remember the rabbit ears? That was about the kind of picture we used to get, right? Right. Now that's what I call level two. It's the black and white television level, and a lot of guys live at this black and white television level. At this level you're just surviving, but you're not really thriving. You're just trying to keep your head above water. You're not really living life. You're just existing, and a lot of guys are at this level. I call this the survivor level.
But, now let's go over to this next level. I have here, thanks to my friend, Jim McEnvale at Gallery Furniture...he let me borrow this for the weekend. This is one of those big screen, high definition televisions - I know some of you guys are salivating right now - it's pretty awesome. This is what I call the third level - the big screen, high definition television level.
