Faith (5 of 5)
Series: The Source
Miles McPherson

Message Recap:

Faith is of the utmost important in our lives:

It’s impossible to have salvation without faith. Ephesians 2:8-9
It’s impossible to resist evil without faith. Ephesians 6:16
It’s impossible to please God without faith. Hebrews 11:6
It’s impossible to pray without faith. Matthew 21:22
It’s impossible to be happy without faith. Romans 5:1

Without faith, we can't be a source of blessing to others to the degree God created us to be. God is not impressed that you are simply in church, because He is always looking at the heart. Do you come to church so that you can check it off your to-do list? Or are you seeking Him diligently with all your heart?

1. Faith is about knowing and trusting in facts. Hebrews 11:1

You should not put your faith in experience or feeling, but in facts.

Faith is stepping on a secure rock, a fact that will not move.

Faith is stepping on a secure rock, a fact that will not move. Jesus is the rock of our salvation. He is, was, and always will be truth, and he is unchanging. He loves you and you can’t earn or lose His love. When you trust in the facts of God’s character, you can continue to worship and trust Him even when you experience trials, distress, or discouragement.
Abraham was the father of faith, so if we are to be a source of blessing to the world as Abraham was, then we must have faith as he did.

2. Increase your faith by increasing the amount of trusted and obeyed facts. Romans 10:17

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing of the Word of God. Romans 10:17

If you want more faith, gather more facts on which to put your faith. The more you understand and document his factual love, reliability, trustworthiness, and love, the more faith you will have.

When disaster comes, you can remember God’s Word. You can recall His faithfulness to people throughout the ages and trust that He will be faithful to you as well.
