We are in a series that we are calling restoring Christmas because it seems like with the political correctness gone crazy, the real meaning of Christmas is being lost in our culture. I was watching one of my favorite shows "The Office" the other day and normally mild mannered Stanley had just about had enough of the craziness that the office had really done with Christmas and he just lets it fly. Just watch.
Christmas time is here. Wow. Thanks guys that sounded amazing. Hi, I'm Andy Bernard and I am the first office Santa ever to make holiday wishes come true. Who's excited to get their holiday wishes. Holiday wishes. What's that Stanley. We know exactly what holiday you are referring to. It is important to be mindful of all belief systems at our holiday party. I have been here 18 years and have suffered through some weird thematic Christmases. A Honolulu Christmas. A Pulp Fiction Christmas. A Muslim Christmas. Moroccan Christmas. Morocco Christmas. I don't want it. Christmas. It's Christmas. It's Christmas. It's Christmas. It's Christmas. I don't want no Kwanzaa wreath. I don't need a dradle in my face. That's its own thing and who is that black Santa for. I don't care. I know Santa ain't black. I could care less. I want Christmas. Just give me plain, baby Jesus lying in a manger Christmas.
I think we would all agree with Stanley just give me plain baby Jesus lying in a manger Christmas. Now maybe we wouldn't express it quite as angrily as Stanley did and I do think it is so important to respect our Jewish friends as they celebrate Hanukah at this time of year. It is important to really respect all religions and their celebrations but I think we have been so concerned as to not offend anyone that we have insulted everyone's intelligence. December 25th is Christmas and we celebrate Christmas. I think it is important to restore the symbols of Christmas to society. I think it is important to restore the real meaning of Christmas to our culture. But it is even more important to restore the real meaning of Christmas in our hearts and lives. To restore Christmas we have to understand that it is Christmas that restores us. Christmas is all about God coming to this earth to restore a relationship between perfect Holy God and broken and sinful human kind.
