Let's give a Fellowship of The Woodlands welcome to our national and international television audience right now. Let them feel welcome. Are you wondering what this giant contraption up here with all these bells and whistles actually does? So am I. So, let's find out together. There is a button up here that I think I'm supposed to press. Let's see what happens. It's a little scary. Something happened. Wow! Before you clap let's see what it did. That's it? All that commotion and this is the end result? A jaw breaker? But doesn't that remind you a lot of our lives? Our lives get so complicated, our schedules get so overloaded and we have all these bells and whistles and gadgets to be more efficient and we are running so fast the smoke is rising. But what do we get for all our busyness? Stress. Emptiness. Broken relationships and overloaded lives. We ask ourselves, is that it? The good news is God says no, there is so much more. I want you to live a life of meaning and significant and purpose with rich relationships that bring you enjoyment and He tells us how to do it. That's why I'm starting a new series this weekend I'm calling ReINVENTing LIFE. Have you noticed we have all these inventions that are supposed to make life easier and less stressful and less complicated. Yet life is more stressful and more complicated then ever. Let me ask you. How many of you feel like your schedule is filled to the brim? That you are overloaded in your schedule. Raise your hand. Yeah, you can relate. How many of you would like to simplify your life at least a little bit. Raise your hand. Sure. How many of you would like to reduce your stress and yet be more productive in your life? Raise your hand. I sure would. We all need this series. What we are going to do in this series is take some of the great inventions of the past and use those to creatively talk about some powerful principles from God's Word that will help us simplify life and accomplish more by doing less. We are going to start by talking about the electric light in hopes that we can shed some light on why our lives get so out of balance. When Thomas Edison was born society still thought of electricity as sort of a novelty, but by the time he died entire cities were lit with electricity. That's because in 1879, Edison, one of the greatest scientists and inventors of all time, perfected the incandescent light bulb.
